    Evening everyone!

For tea tonight we had some whoopsied Trout with a Mixed Salad, Pinenuts and Lemon Cous Cous. It was Yum & nice and healthy.

Unfortunately, we followed it with a large slice of HM Victoria Sponge and a couple of wedges of HM Shortbread, not so healthy:D I was actually going to serve yoghurt and Banana ......oh well.

    Have a great weekend everyone:)

    hello everyone,

i hope im allowed to post here.
im planning on joining this challenge next month :) i quite regularly meal plan, but dont always stick to :(
im a single mum, with one ds and a cat :) and a goldfish ... although tbh he dont cost much:p
ive noticed my spendings just been getting rediculous recently, mainly because of wandering away from the meal plan. buying whatever i fancy in shops. plus i always buy WAAAY too much food, considering how theres only me and ds, i have enough food here to feed the army for a month.
theres so much food here, most of it cant even be stored in cupboards:(
i used to do the store cupboard challenge but havent been on there in ages.
i have been tracking what ive spent so far this month and its rediculous, practically all of my money has been going on food.
i have spent more this month than usual, as my cooker broke, so have been living off the microwave and toasty machine. thankfully i am having my new cooker monday:T i have been lost without it .
i have a slowcooker, so have planned a few meals on the menu plan this week to go in the slowcooker. really need to start eating the food in my cupboards insteada buying so much new food everyweek.

am absolutely loving this thread and all of the advice on here, sorry its taken me so long to comment, as its taken me ages to read all the posts :rotfl:

hope you guys dont mind me posting, and if theres any questions please feel free to ask.

look forward to joining you all next month

I do love the reference "the rainforest place" now why didn't I think of that! Until reading it on here I'd never looked on there for food so thanks to those who mention such offers(tho I won't go for it right now)as I now remember to look there too! Well I have had a NSD day today and didnt get to Coop tonight after all as I had to sort out my Avon delivery and it was in the wrong direction! Lidl will be cheaper anyhow and I don't NEED anything until tomorrrow night. I am making nofat teabread tonight as everyone loves it. No cooking for me tomorrow but I expect DD will oblige while I go to work-that is-if her head isn't "banging" after going out tonight:eek:

Kittywight-firstly a big welcome! Re menu plans although I do them now and then ?I find it best to do the menus but not put the days on them so that you can be flexible and shuffle them about-that way they are easier to stick to-especially if you just don't fancy a certain food one day.
What will most likely work best for you is to get into the habit of NSDs-NO SPENDING DAYS.
These are such a help when you overstock-I'm a devil for overstocking so I know how it gets you.
Make sure you are not going to run out of bread milk and loo rolls and hopefully you can avoid the shops!
The other thing that keeps you in hand is only taking out a fiver(or a tenner, whatever)spending real cash-leaving cards at home and sticking to the list of what you need not what you "might need" or fancy. Ive got a whiteboard in my kitchen and when I run out of something or use it up I write it on the board so I don't forget to buy the important stuff. I always have a quick look in cupboards and freezer also before I go shopping to recheck the list and cross off anything I find I don't need. I've managed to diminish my stock a little this way
Good luck with it! The fact you are keeping tabs on it is the most important step of all. If you don't get a receipt for something leave yourself a text or a voice memo on your mobile. I often text myself(easier than the memos on my phone)and when I see its my number I will keep it and read it again later if need be.

Rising, I'm glad you survived the torture chamber. Hope you're feeling a lot better now it's behind you.
Welcome Kittywight, of course you can post on here. We'll all be glad to have you.
Lovethenight, hope you get rid of that awful flu soon.

Hugs to all who are ill and to anyone who just needs one.

A small shop today, 2 packs of frozen pastry and 2 bottles of pop for DGS. Came to £2.50. I suppose I should add the cone of chips from the chippie I treated DGS to, £1.40. Total of £3.90 then.
    Off to update sig.

I too bought the living lettuce from Lid! for 99p - I usually use 2 lettuces a week so I thought that would save me some money and it looks quite funky on my kitchen windowsill :).

I now do my main shop in Lid! and then get bits elsewhere that I know are cheaper or on offer. I'm doing well except today in Mr S, a bottle of red wine 'fell' into my basket while I wasn't looking :rotfl:. It's actually 2 months since I bought any wine so I didn't feel too bad as I've got nearly all the food I need for the week and still have money left from my budget :o even after buying the wine.

We had an interesting leftover lunch on Sunday cooked by my DH. We had leftover spaghetti from Sat night and DH incorporated it into an omelette with ham, veg and cheese and it was delicious :T.

sistercas - Mine's brilliant but they are almost as brutal as a wire brush so be very careful on any silicone sealant where if there is any hint of weakness, it will seek out and destroy the seals  like an exocet missile:rotfl:.

lol too late im afraid , there seems to be some sealant missing around the kitchen window :o

taking DD1 to work so will pop into HB for some bits and bobs, we are out tomorrow and i need to make up a picnic, needs some little bottles of pop to take , i also need a filter for my water jug , found them in there for £1.25 :j

Morning all, Rising i had an mri about 4 years back i'm not clausterphobic in any way at all but it is a daunting experience, my partner was invited into the room with me so that was a comfort & i kept my eyes closed the entire time & was also given headphones to wear for the radio to drown out some of the noise, when they lye you down and explain that you must be still i was as rigid as a board, until the radio came on and that made me jump, arms & legs flying everywhere, my partner still laughs about it now, awful man. just thought it might help should you need to have further mri's.
miffy 257, i am the orher way round i live on the border in wales & have got quite used to carrying shopping bags around, but it is nice should we pop over the border to england and if we forget a bag we dont have to pay.
hello kittywight i have only been posting for a few weeks and this board is brilliant, i like to do a meal plan but i do change it from time to time depending on offers, for example i have gammon steaks on next weeks but the joints of gammon worked out cheaper and will go further. i use my slow cooker often for meals & tend to have portions left over which i freeze so i have ready made meals available for when i cant be bothered. also there is more sauce if you have made your meal in the slow cooker, i mady a curry the other week and we had enough sauce left over which i used for another meal, you will pick up lots of tips here. well that was a long post wasnt it, i apologize in advance to anyone who drops off reading it.enjoy your weekend.

  • I have spent £132.73 so far. I am shocked at all of the silly spends during the week. I have been shopping and included the spend for this week though, so fingers crossed. Just got to try and keep out of the shops or at least just get what i need and not what i fancy.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.
