I had a package from T&M today and feel rather let down. I got 10 perninial plugs and 7 packs of hardy annual seeds ! That is not what I call plants worth £100.
I'm off to check the original spec. on the email offer and possibly a complaint will be on the way to T&M.

Thanks for being honest enough to report your disappointment here. :A It's only when people report back that others can gauge the quality of these offers.

Looks like 1 - 1 at the moment.

In your case, my post wasn't so very far out! :(

Looks to me like mis-selling and recently I've come across more and more retailers (online) not coming up with the goods as described.
Debenhams, M&S and Sainsbury's have all made error noises when I've queried descriptions against what actually is supplied.
I've bought from T&M for a number of years, mostly via the BBC link and twice I've been misled over free postage and had a charge applied erroneously. Doubt I'll buy from them again.

They would be after growing on to 3l pots in 4 years!

They were £10! Presumably you know what that will buy you in a garden centre so why do people assume they will be getting fully grown plants sitting in masses of compost?

I haven't bought many plants online as I would rather go out and pick my own specimens and bring them home to plant them straight away instead of having them sit in plastic containers for days until the postman manages to throw them over the back fence because we're at work all day.

However, we moved in to a new property last year and have plenty of space to fill so these are ideal to give colour this year while we decide what we'd really like to plant in the garden.

At this time of year the big wholesale nurseries have pretty much allocated stock for growing-on, mini-plants etc, so what they're left with is what you get.

It looks like they may even have been a bit short this year.

Having sold plants for a living, I know that the dream is what sells. Too often, the real bargains stay firmly on the stall!

    Go find a good W.I. Market. ;)

Mine just arrived. I got 20 plugs, and 10 packs of seeds - 2 each of Armeria, Cosmos, Lobelia, Geranium & Viola. A little bit squashed and sad looking, but sure they'll look fine with a bit of TLC. [STRIKE]Not sure[/STRIKE] No chance I would have ever paid £100 for them, but for a tenner it's worth the punt.

I also took up this offer and received my order yesterday - 20 plug plants and 10 packets of seeds. I telephoned customer services earlier to find out what else there was to come, because I didn't have the order number to hand the lady on the other end let out a deep audible sigh ( I think she had been dealing with these calls all day). Anyway, once I obtained my order number I was told that those 20 plug plants are worth over £100.00 and the seeds are 'freebies'. Judging by the LOT numbers they are just old seeds that they want to get rid of. I thought I would check out the website. Basically, I have received 1 plug of each of the plants named in their perennial collections A & B. Each of these offers is usually £14.99 for 15 plants (3 of each type) so if you ordered both you would get 30 plants for £30.00 i.e. £1.00 per plant.

If, at the time of the offer, you just went on their website, it was on there for £100.00 i.e. 20 plants for £100.00. If you buy each plug individually they are £5.00 per plug but buying multiples brings the price down.

I'm glad I didn't pay £100.00 but I still think the offer should have stated exactly what you were getting. I have complained via their facebook page so I will be interested in their response.
  • Just received a £10.00 e-voucher from T & M as an apology, but I re-visited the web page and the picture implies you can fill a border with the plants in the offer and there is more than one plant of each variety visible. It states:-

Fill your beds and borders with this bargain perennial bumper collection. You will receive at least 20 different popular perennial varieties, with a worth value of £100! Perennial plants will bloom year after year and they can also be cut and brought into the house for beautiful flower arrangements.

I just think the whole thing was misleading and someone could have paid £100.00 for them.

I've had a moan at them but no response, so bye,bye tomps.
I'm experienced enough to know what one can expect from different plug sizes and I would not expect perennials to necessarily flower in the first year, nor to become particularly well established ; however, they haven't supplied to me what I expected them to and I think they could check that they actually despatched the correct plants.
I've passed on the packets of seeds to a community group who are having a seed sowing event this w/e and they were very happy to have extra stocks.
