Hi,
I broke both my legs in August 2010, with children of 5 and 3 in the house. While my husband was at work I would do as another poster said and, basically, go up and down the stairs on my backside.
I had a wheelchair that I could not get through the kitchen door, so would slide myself to the floor and crawl to the kitchen chairs, the children would fetch what was needed from the fridge etc. Not brilliant for your dignity, admittedly! However, we muddled through, not having any family within a 200 mile radius and having just moved to a new area. Ask your physio dept to lend you a stool which you can use to lean against and sit on to allow you to prep food and cook etc. I had one when I could weight bear a little and it was very helpful being able to adjust the height.
As for school, when mine were returning after the holidays in September, I had contacted school admissions and transport who arranged for them to be collected and dropped off on the days when husband couldn't do it due to work.0 -
HI
bless you and as for D70.... well the least said the better!
Have you tried asking your child's pre school/ nursery if you are entitled to the transport that some of them do? It would depend on whether your child is at private day care or local authority I think, but I know that my son's nursery/ pre school run a transport scheme for collecting and dropping off on a needs basis.
Definitely call Homestart if there's one in your area.
Hopefully you heal quickly and you'll be back on your feet (no pun intended) soon.

I help to run a preschool, and if we had a parent in this situation we would find someone to help, please ask them if there is anything they can do!0

Once you get used to the crutches you will be amazed at just how much you can do.
My daughter was on crutches for 2 months and apart from being unable to do PE she carried on as normal. All her lessons were up 2 flights of stairs but she managed (she didn't notice the disabled lift hidden in the corner until she was back on her feet) and when we went out I had to run to keep up!
If you can't get your ex to look after your son try not to worry too much, kids are adaptable and he's old enough to be mummy's little helper and do a lot for you.
It probably won't be half as bad as you expect

Does it make a difference? I have been on it on and off (more on than off) since last september. Didnt think it changed anything xThe feeling i got when i confirmed my place studying criminology at Exeter Uni was brilliant!!!!!
The pride my children told me they had in me was even better!!!!! # setting positive example to children is OUTSTANDING!!!! !:grouphug::grouphug::smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea:smileyhea0 -
Tax credits are based on your annual household income, so if being on SSP means you are receiving less money than you would if you were at work then yes, it might.Does it make a difference? I have been on it on and off (more on than off) since last september. Didnt think it changed anything x0
