Veg for this month? Ummmm.......
Well im getting my onion sets in later today (about 300 of the things!!!) along with shallots.
Sowed leeks 2 weeks ago along with some cabbages. Going to sow some calbrese later - debating giving some parnsips a go as mild weather the next week or so to try to get them to germinate early0 -
my strawberries are doing ok, and I've been promised some tomatoes in exchange for a couple of plants. Am still tempted to try growing squash, but think I'll be heading for a disaster.0

I'm in Yorkshire up in the hills between Huddersfield and Wakefield. Our growing season on the allotment was pretty pants last year. However, the year before my little boy grew lots of great pumpkins:) We've just started planting seeds for this year, beetroot, caulis, courgettes, carrots, broccoli, cabbage, peppers, onions, I'm going to do tomatoes and chillies this weekend. We are going up to the lottie tomorrow to rotivate it.:hello:

Well what worked for us was letting a 5 year old plant the seeds and then let him water them with a little elephant watering can
We started them in the porch, put the seedlings in the greenhouse when warm enough. We probably only fed them a couple of times, when we planted them at the lottie, we put the fruits on straw and ended up with about 13. However another year we only managed one !!! I think it must have been beginners luck. :hello:

Im from NE derbyshire so hoping you Yorkshire lot will talk to me
. I havent got any further than looking at my seed packets and dreaming - it seems way too cold here yet. I have been given a new old (if you get my drift) 14 x 10ft greenhouse so mega excited. last year we had a lot of success with cucumbers, peppers, cayenne, sweetcorn, beans etc - but have never been able to grow cauli or broccoli:( What does anyone who knows what is happening advise me to do? They all have no middles
Just had a delivery from moreveg , they are fab as you dont have to buy loads of the same seed and they are CHEAP !:T0 -

Hi - You need to plant them into very firm ground - could that be the problem?
I always grow in cells, pot on and then transplant to the plot. Plant them down to their seed leaves0 -
Hi, I would love to join. Im in Doncaster and have absolutely no idea what I am doing. I have grown my own veg for the last 2 years but to be honest all I do is pot, plant, water and hope something grows
I havent actually started anything yet but will be buying some seed potatoes tomorrow. I had 3 large ikea bags full last year, some bought seed potatoes and some leftover from the supermarket that didnt get eaten. Think I will be doing the same this year:j:T Gorgeous twin girls born 1st Nov 2012 :T:j0 -

Sometimes the best way - sometimes people put too much emphasis on the detail when in reality for a lot of things that is all you have to do.
If you have any specific questions just shout out.0 -
sorry for the silence - I've been away with work.
So, how are you all getting on?0
