falkirk vs glasgow
Im new and not sure where to put this but I am desperatly seeking some advice, I plan on moving within the next 3 months and Im stumped
my first thoughts where falkirk, now heres my question what is the nightlife like? are there clubs and decent pubs? Im 23 so not hung up my party shoes yet and I like a good night out!
also how easy would it be to commute from falkirk to glasgow via bus/train? and are there any late night buses going back so I could have nights out in glasgow but still live in falkirk if that makes sense?
now heres my 2nd question, glasgow is being considered too, what is it like to live there? is it a nice place, do you feel safe?
how easy is it to take buses to and from places? Im learning to drive but cant yet so willl still be needing public transport if i get a job before i pass my test
so if anyone can offer any help that would be great thanks

Falkirk has a very good rail service to Glasgow and Edinburgh approx every 15mins From Falkirk High (South part of the town) to Glasgow starting 06:24 and last train back normally 23:30.
Falkirk Grahamston (town centre) to Glasgow is approx an hourly service to Glasgow starting 05:43 and last train back normally 22:51Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -
Where do you live now? That may influence how you'd feel about either place.0

One of the first questions you will be asked is are you a "Tim" or a "Hun". Be ready to give the correct answer, the wrong answer could be detrimental to your health.
Don't try the I'm a Hindu/Muslim/Rasta etc as the next question will be are you a Muslim Tim or Muslim Hun.
Seriously though if you want some night life it really has to be Glasgow (since you work their) try and get a nice flat in the West End (St Georges Cross westwards). Once you get to know the city you could venture elsewhere.
Watch ths and will give you an idea of Glasgow life and humour:-

well i dont know what a tim or hun is and that would be my reply and i am not a muslim rasta or hindu (unfortunatly i cannot find asmilie lol
does anyone know if falkirk even has a nightclub lol :rotfl:
Although I like a good party and to let off some steam I do prefer a nice quite life during the week so you see where my dilema comes in, in an ideal situation I would prefer to live in falkirk but be able to go to glasgow/edinburgh for nights out and still be able to get home after0 -
Come on Hintza, its been much more civilized in the West of Scotland for decades. You may however want to have an answer to the innocuous, friendly question, "Which school did you go to?"0

Why would you prefer Falkirk? Glasgow is as quiet or as busy as you want to make it.
Living in Falkirk is bit like living in Hemel Hempstead when you have moved down to London to work.
Watch the Steamie (seriously) you will enjoy it and it really will give you an insight in to the Glasgow phsyc.0 -

Och I know...but still handy for the OP to know what a Tim and a Hun are.
OP Glasgow is a very friendly place but like all cities there are a few areas worth avoiding.0 -
thanks but I still have no idea what a tim and a hun are llf,
my family was from glasgow originally but it will of all changed in the past 23 years and right now i live in a small town looking for work somewhere with a bit more going on.
I may consider glasgow more seriously though, just dont want to end up in a rough area, would also like somewhere with nice places to walk the dogs0 -

Ah.
Clubbing and dogs don't really mix. There are many many nice places to live within a stones throw of Glasgow. For example Loch Lomond and the highlandsare only half an hour away.
If I were you I would sit down and highlight your interests and then pick the place closest that will suit.
For example:-
Sailing:- Helensburgh or Largs
Skiing:- Anywhere to the north of Glasgow
Climbing:- Falkirk might be better you have the indoor climbing centre at Ratho.
Canal Walks:- Falkirk0
