memory foam mattresses too hot?

I can't bear being too hot at night, so I finally plumped for a waterbed. It's fantastic - nice and cool in the summer and warm in the winter (actually it's the same temperature all year, that's just how it feels). Never have to toss and turn or kick off the quilt againMortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0

Ex complained it made him sweat too much. But he would insist on an arctic weight duvet and wrap himself up in it like he was in hibernation, close all the windows and then complain the mattress topper that made it possible for me to sleep at night without hip pain was to blame. Before the foam topper, he said it was my fault.
Just change the duvet cover and have the window open a bit all the time.
Then again, I can (and do) sleep quite happily with just a cellular blanket over me, just as long as I have PJ bottoms and a vest top. And when the ex stayed, I would often sleep on top of the bedding rather than overheat with him there.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
I have the window open all night anyway even in winter, except last winter when it froze shut...! I'm always boiling hot and can't bear being roasted alive in bed at night - so it does look like I'll have to pass on the memory foam mattress!
I did get one of those chillows but it stuck to my face and left me with lovely tram lines all day!0 -
I have a wool duvet which seems to have sorted out the overheating problem. When DS2's dad was here we had a 4.5 tog down duvet which was more than warm enough and I was considering getting a 2.5tog - and I don't have the heating on high or 24/7.Eat food. Not too much. We;ve had a memory foam mattress for approx two and a half years now and I can honestly say that I don't overheat even with a thick quilt on the bed. It does have the "coolmax" technology which is designed to prevent overheating and although not a Tempur mattress, when I did my research it was very similar (It's made by Breasley if you're interested). Wouldn't have anything else now.0

we have a memory foam mattress and have never been to hot and can't say I notice any difference to our old mattress. We have a fairly bog standard duvet on all year around with the exception of summer nights when we may just have a blanket. Last summer however we were living in a bungalow with no windows to open due to house cats and this year we are in a three story house so can open the windows to our hearts content!!Crafting for 2009 items doneOne patchwork blanket, two neck supports, one tea cosy, one knitted bunny, one knitted egg!0

Ive had both a topper and our memory foam mattress - on balance I preferred the topper, but thats just me and my bad back! as for being too hot.........I got too hot with an ordinary mattress and havent found either the topper or the MF mattress made any difference.
My OH cant stand the window open - and I cant stand it shut! I often bu99er off into the spare room where I can open the window wide.............and actually enjoy being too hot cos its too cold to stick my nose above the covers!0 -

I love my Tempur mattress. Cost a bloody fortune but it's worth every penny - and I've never had a problem with being too hot.0
