Had your winter gas bill yet?

No gas here either, just paid £268 for elec and got £580 of oil in Oct (1000 litres) and am down to 2 bars on the watchman. Am trying to hang on before ordering but am scared it will get too low and will then have to get emergency supply which is even more expensive. Will have to ring around on Monday and get quotes but I see the oil price has crept up £37 (according to boiler juice) in the last 2 weeks for 500 litres. That's what I get for dawdling :rotfl::rotfl:. Wish we had gas, although it is dear it's not as dear as oil!!! And at least you don't run out....0

Ours was £141. That was having the heating on 4 to 5 hours a day. Not bad to say we're on a standard tariff, yet everyone always thinks it's the most expensive.

Nov - Feb our bill came to £186, 10yr old system boiler (no condensing going on here!); good tariff though. Pretty pleased with that considering the cold very recently.
Partly down to the fact I've realised over time the tank I have only needs 15mins in the morning to bring to showering temperature.
Haven't told my family though, they might get it into their heads it's ok to turn the heating up!

I nearly had a heart attack yesterday £259 for the gas until I saw it was an estimate did the reading and its only going to be about £180 phew0

I have kept a log of my actual readings for some time now so I know how many kwh of gas I expect to use on average over each calendar month of the year; I did a best fit analysis to work it out when I was particularly bored one day :rotfl:. My electricity costs don't vary much, albeit they have gone down over the years due to energy efficient light bulbs, so I won't include these here.
I've used 1,836 KWH less gas over the Winter (last 4 months) than I was expecting, or in percentage terms 20% less. Given my total annual gas usage is on average 16,951kwh that is a big reduction on normal usage. So if throughout the rest of the year my usage is as expected should use just over 10% less gas than expected this year to the beginning of next Winter. So allowing for price increases I project not paying a huge amount more than the previous year (which was a roughly average year) in £ terms for gas.
Ties in with it having been an extremely mild Winter here in Cumbria. There was a short cold snap in late January running into early February and I can see my usage was above average during that period but that is more than made up for by lower usage throughout the rest of the Winter.
It is possible to look at these too carefully and get a bit addicted to analysing the figuresI came, I saw, I melted0 -
Not got gas but just had my electric bill (detached bungalow and heating via two aircon units + stove) from 31st Oct to 17th Feb and it was £171 + £30 I've spent on coal for my stove. Amazingly Npower has just dropped my monthly DD to £19 which is stupid of them but I'll be switching at the end of July again anyway so will leave it at that.0

Our was £230-ish for the quarter... but considering that we barely had the central heating on and we use electric oven/hob, it seems pretty high.0

6,554 kWh of gas at a cost of £249 inc standing charge 23/11/11 to 23/02/12.
1,009 kWh of electricity at a cost of £119 inc standing charge same period.
The heating was on constantly with the thermostat turned down at night to tick over, instead of heavy burns to re-heat the building on the timer twice a day.
We'd built up £290 credit since moving to Co-Op in August, so we're £90 in debit with a good chance of building up our credit again without having to increase our £69 a month direct debit.

Hi all
I wanted to share some statistics with you.
I moved in to my current property in July 2007.
It is a semi detatched bungalow circa 65 (private Rented) with a heating system that requires an overhaul.
Since moving into the property I have kept a very close eye on my Gas and Electric usage.
My supplier is Southern Electric and their Gas unit price in 2007 was 2.21 pence per unit and is currently 3.81 pence per unit
A price increase of 72.39% percent over 5 years.
Southern Electrics 2007 standing charge was 11.40 pence per day and is currently at 29.97 pence per day
A whopping 162.89% increase over the 5 year period.
The following table is my gas usage over the 5 year period.
Year --- Consumption kWh --- Gas Cost --- Standing Charge ---Total before VAT
1
21477.88
£474.66
£41.46
£516.12
2
21981.53
£728.97
£55.44
£784.41
3
16060.85
£514.37
£81.43
£595.80
4
15814.62
£485.89
£99.37
£585.26
5
17067.32
£650.26 ---- £107.57
£757.83
The reason for the big increase in Year 2 Southern Electric raised its Unit charge from 2.22 pence per unit to 3.37 pence per unit
and its standing charge from 11.40 pence per day 13.36 pence per day.
Year 5 is part actual (up to current bill) and part estimated (until July 2012) assuming the unit price and standing charge remain extant
and gas usage consistent with previous year.
So from these statistics comes the following: In the 5 year period July 2007 - July 2012 my gas consumption has decreased by 20.54% whilst my
Costs have risen by 46.83% in the same period.
So In short I have used less heating by freezing more and wrapping up in more clothes whilst paying more money for the priveledge of doing so.0 -
Our gas bill was £208 from 2/10/11 - 8/2/12. Like Kennya posted above we've used less gas but paid more.0
