I saw a car today with Green L Plates.
What is that supposed to mean?0 -

I will get round anyone I think will hold me up as soon as possible - P plates are a badge that allows me to spot someone who's likely to hold me up.
so it was you that turned all the rubbish in the centre of the road to a dust storm that caused a bullet hole in my windscreen
please furnish your insurance details forthwith so i can issue a claim0 -

My instructor told me when I passed to not put them on as you get treated like a learner and many motorists will just get huffy with you.0

I'd avoid them for safety. There's a clear difference in the way people drive around you based on the vehicle you're in (and of course its markings).
If you're in an old campervan or displaying P plates, you will find people pulling out of side roads in front of you, trying to overtake at inappropriate times and cutting in on your left round roundabouts. You have to be extremely aware and cautious of these people, who seem to naturally react in a dangerous and unecessary way just because they're 'afraid of getting stuck behind a slow person'.
It's hilarious... whether I'm in my classic camper or my modern sportscar, I'm the same driver and I do the same speeds around town. But the old camper with its antique braking system and poor visibility gets tested by other drivers 20 times more frequently than the lightweight two-seater with ABS :rotfl:Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
A type of P-Plate has been compulsory over here in Northern Ireland for decades, the 'R' plate however I have seen a marked decrease in the number of vehicles on the road displaying them....

I had the same experience as I live in London as well. So after 2 days I removed them and suddenly everyone was much nicer to me.
People forget that new drivers are often driving cars with sh*t brakes. :eek:I'm not cynical I'm realistic
