Your list is bizarre. Some of the specific places you mention are out of town and don't have charges. Some stores (mostly those in town) do have charges. How bizarre too that you didn't get my point? Which is that wherever one chooses to park, one should take note of the terms and conditions.
But of course I don't support 'sneakiness' - whether on the part of councils or private landholders.
The prize for sneakiness goes to that car park in Haworth plus countless cowboy clampers - which is the real scandal which needs to be addressed.
No - but they have protection racketeers waiting to vicitimise people. In all of those examples on the list, every single one. It is indeed bizarre that out of town places allow this level of harassment, you even get PPCs appointed to 'work' in locked/gated residents' car parks where only residents can get in! It's all about money.
And I agree with your point that one should choose where to park carefully and not take the mickey. And non-disabled should NEVER take a disabled space. But who reads all the t&cs when driving into a Supermarket car park? You go there to shop and don't expect to have to time yourself to the minute, especially at Christmas when the queues are hugely long, or especially if you are disabled and need longer to shop. Or if there's a cafe on site as well, or more than one shop, how do they feel they can slap a £50 charge on a customer who takes longer than 2 hours?
And I agree with you about clampers like in Haworth. Shocking scumbags.
And agree with you about sneaky Councils picking on people, especially elderly/disabled people. But happily most Council PCNS can be successfully challenged if only people knew that the FIRST appeal normally gets rejected!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I wasn't aware I had asked any questions but thanks anyway.
But while on the subject of car parking practices, councils aren't much better. A 80+ year old man I know was slapped with a PCN by a council jobsworth because his sticker was upside down. Yes he got it rescinded but he had to go into town again, fill in a form....
That's HALIFAX council if anybody from there is reading this.
Yes, some councils ARE almost as bad, and for the same reason, = greed.
But at least they operate under a clearly defined framework regulated by statute law. And ultimately if you don't agree with them there is a TRULY independent appeal system which does indeed uphold a majority of appeals.0 -

So you basically made that comment to troll on here then, well thanks for clearing that up for me!
And if that 80 year old man had parked in a private car park the kangaroo appeals process held by the PPC would have turned it down, and threaten the guy with court and ccj's and threats of debt collectors knocking the door! That is the reality of parking companies!Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
Ladies and gentlemen, don't you think this thread has been well and truly hi-jacked? Sorry, MissyKay! Please don't think we've forgotten you!
I see from looking at his/her post history our friend Pineapple enjoys a bit of banter/ discussion on a wide variety of subjects. Fair enough, why not start a thread on the Discussion Time forum and invite us over?
This forum is about giving people help and advice when they have problems, not about being judgemental to them.0 -

It is about greed. I got a PCN from Barnet Council for driving in a bus lane that was 40 yards long. It was 2 days after Christmas with no traffic about and they could have used discretion as the law does allow that. But they didn't.
The wording on the PCN was not lawful and I took it to PATAS and won. Barnet had to change the wording on their PCN's as a result.
The tribunal system works well (in my opinion) and you know it is going to give you a fair chance.
PS The bus lane I drove in has since been removed. It was not needed where it was and it was clearly a cash cow."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"
