Switching GAS supplier?

If you have passed any objection period for your new supplier registration, Bgas should not be attempt to calculate the next twelve months. If you havent passed that point, then you are still their ongoing customer so any auto billing routines could continue since they could have a legitimate reason to block a transfer. With this, its a question of how advanced their billing and registration systems are.
If you cancel your DD, as Jalexa says, you can expect delays on any credit but it depends if you have plans to parent an auto sweep of the closing bill. Again, are you sure you are transferring?:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
I signed up with Ebico (EquiGas) to switch in March, had an email confirmation on 26th March, and the postcard (on Thursday) saying:
"...you'll soon have lots of ways to lower your bill. And we're nearly there with your application. We're switching your account over from your existing supplier. And we'll send your 'Welcome Pack' soon. It'll give you: Your start date (and other stuff!)" ..0 -
Has it been over a good 7 days? The reason i ask is because the existinggb supplier can object but its a very short timeframe. If you are over this timeframe you should be going to a new supplier...unless they are in the process of sending you a letter to say your old supplier has objected.
Once you pass they objection time limit, your switch is guaranteed so Bgas shouldn't be doing anything other than await the final reading via the new supplier. This can take time, but it would be unreasonable go continue collecting a DD for anything higher than consumption base on firm reads if your meter since they don't know what your final bill will be.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -

Well, it's now April 16th and I haven't heard a thing
Interesting that the British Gas website shows they are taking a payment of £18 out my bank tomorrow, even though I'm at least £80 in credit..0 -

Have you been asked for final meter readings yet? That usually indicates the switch is about to happen.
You seem surprised that BG is taking £18 from your account tomorrow. Is that the usual date and the usual DD amount? It's starting to sound to me that perhaps BG has estimated your readings and has or is about to forward them to Ebico.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.

Hi Consumerist,
I haven't been asked for final meter readings yet, and my British Gas account that said "closed account" when I logged in before, miraculously doesn't show "closed account" now, weird!
Sorry, £18 is the usual Direct Debit amount, and tomorrow is the usual payment day.
I thought they recalculated your next 12 payments based on your usage and credit / debit balance? Obviously not.
I manually submitted an meter reading myself to British Gas at the weekend to see if that'd help, but it said reading too late to affect this next bill....?!.0 -
If your BG account has been re-instated it rather looks as though there is not going to be any switch at the moment.
Sounds to me as though it's time to contact Ebico to find out what's happening. They are supposed to managing the switch and keeping you informed.Warning: In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is king.
