Anyone know how long it takes to switch supplier?
There is usually 7 - 14 days "cooling-off" period - in case you change your mind. After the cooling-off period, it shouldn't take longer than three weeks providing your current supplier has no objection; if you're in credit then an objection is unlikely.

Best allow up to five weeks, I'd say. BG might not be in any hurry to send you your credit balance, however. :(

    Thanks for replying though.

    4-5 weeks is entirely normal.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

But that's irrelevant, unless the annual cost allowing for the Clubcard points is still cheaper than other providers.

I've changed my tune now macman, and have had quite a few lightbulb moments this weekend (probably triggered by a much needed kick up the @ss), but you're right, its crazy and totally stupid staying with E-ON for my electric just 'cos I get clubcard points. It's not even a lot...

I wil go and find my last E-ON statement as I am deeply ashamed to say I don't even know what tarrif I am on with them.

I am still dubious about having all my eggs in one basket and letting one company provide my gas & electric...

The company actually 'providing ' it is not the same as the company billing it. So why worry about a dual fuel arrangement (if that is the cheapest option-don't assume that it will be)?

    Okay, ta.

Why? What is the worst that can happen? They mess up your billing...
It won't affect the actual supply of the services, which is down to National Grid and the regional DNO.

I will be tied into some dual fuel deal that way, whereas now, I'd rather have X for gas, and Y for electric. Probably an excuse I know, but thats like saying let X company handle your telephone, broadband, gas, electric, contents insurance, car insurance etc kinda like the way SKY are becoming :D

I hate any kind of bill and begrudge paying any company twice for services...

...especially when they are screwing us, the poor customers into the ground when they are making millions.

... and don't say that's what being in business is all about.
