  • Your flatulent post stinks - do you really want advice or are you just attention seeking? :D.

    Ha ha!

Nope, I deffo want genuine advice. Need to get my bills as cheap as possible.

Standard tariffs are invariably the more expensive ones. You don't mention your electricity supplier. Look at the dual fuel options on the comparison sites, as it often works out better than paying for the utilities individually - the sites are a good guide so long as you know your annual kWh usage of each service.

    Another thanks

I am happy with E-ON for my electric as I get Tesco clubcard points.... every little helps! :p

What consumption did you enter to get a 47% reduction with Equigas?

Certainly with very low consumption - and £18 monthly is very low - then Equigas is usually a good bet.

A price comparison site said I would make savings of 47% by going with EquiGas, when I entered details of usage off my last BG bill...

  • From the Ebico Ts&Cs :-

    5. Security Deposit/pre-payment meter.
5.1 We can request a security deposit from you or replace your meter(s) with a pre-payment meter(s) if:
    (a) You don’t meet our credit criteria;
    (b) You fail to pay or are late in paying the Charges; or
    (c) As a result of your conduct.
If you don’t provide a security deposit and it is not safe and/or practical to install a pre-payment meter(s) we may disconnect your supply and recover any costs reasonably incurred.

Accordingly, I beg to differ with you.

That is worrying, but I'd be paying by monthly direct debit. How could they not accept me?

I may be on a DMP but I have the money available for all my essential bills like gas, water, electric, phone, rent & council tax etc set aside.
What's left is for my eternity of beans on toast until the debt is cleared, and for other non-essential bills.

I wouldn't worry. I had a CCJ, defaults and accounts in arrears at the time and they accepted me. As long as you pay the bill on time every time it is due then you have little to worry about. No credit check was ever made against my credit file so they never knew about the CCJ and defaults anyway.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Well, of course, there is no telling whether or not they will accept you but I just thought it prudent to mention that they do give themselves the right to credit-check customers; it may well be that their criteria are not too stringent even if they do.

Unfortunately, credit checks by other companies will probably look primarily for missed/late payments but it is not clear from your post whether your credit file has such things.

Please don't let me dissuade you from applying but just be aware of the possibility of credit checking.

I would be interested to know how you get on.

But that's irrelevant, unless the annual cost allowing for the Clubcard points is still cheaper than other providers.

The lower of the Equigas prices quoted work out at 2% dearer against my last not-the-cheapest-rate eOn bill.

Just done a price comparison and have come up with a big Q ....... as energy prices have been reduced, so say all of the energy companies in the press, why has the possible savings against my fixed until 2013 and not reduced account also reduced ?

I'm with Ebico and have had no issues with them, I'm a reasonably low user so it works for me :p and it's also cheaper for me to *not* be on a dual-fuel tariff.

Anyone know how long it takes to switch supplier?

Just curious as my next D/D with British Gas is due to be taken out on 16th March, and I am currently in credit with them.

The EquiGas cheaper gas prices per unit come into effect late March, so Im thinking if I time this right, I can pay my last ever D/D to BG, then let EquiGas (Ebico?) do the switch for me...... as long as BG refund my credit and I don't end up losing it somehow......
