Just to add I think most of us on here would be tempted to do the same thing and then hope we never hear from the buyer again but since the buyer has come back in double quick time the OP has been caught with his fingers in the cookie jar and should do the right thing now.

Many of us would not behave in such a manner though, advertise with slipping clutch by all means, but people i call friends and myself would not be tempted.

    It takes all sorts.

Great, I'll buy your car in 2 years then for half the price while you take the hit on another brand new one. Even if she pays for the clutch it's still much less than what she would loose on a new car in the first month.

My honest opinon, its tough on the buyer. Ok OP should have said about the fault but sold as seen means just that, if she chose not to see it at all more fool her. Only complication comes with the fact it was sold via eBay and not as advertised, if it was an ad in the paper she would (an rightly so) probably end up paying herself. Really who buys a car without seeing and driving it, stupidity.

I agree, why risk paying a few hundred quid in repairs when you can buy a brand new car for £15,000 and lose £5k+ in the first year.... Oh !!!!!
