Yea, the heat has to build up or one is just trapping the cold in. The insulation works both ways.0

Hi CTC,
I hadn't seen the free listing thing.
I need to get my head around the new postal rates.0 -
-
CTC/Choille, I bought 100 6" x 6" x 6" boxes at 18p each which are the only other size allowed as small parcels. I'm pricing RM 2nd postage for these at £2.90 (£2.60 + packaging cost) as I wont be able to send enough to qualify for business rates. But most parcels I send now are via Collect+. Bids/sales tonight coming in as fast as I'm listing, one so quick I didnt have time to amend a gallery picture! Been a good month after a very poor start
Lir, sorry, hadnt picked up that you had so much new insulation fitted. Really does bring home that your heating system isn't working as it should.
CTC, good luck with the new chapter! Take care of yourself and OH.0 -

Although I am annoyed to miss a delivery of a parcel today it does mean a drive of twenty five minutes each way to collect it tomorrow :j:o:j:o0 -
There's loads of stuff online about growing your own willow. coppiced and some companies specialise in selling it on I think a seven year rotation. You don't need that much land - according to them.... I think it was about a third of an acre. As mentioned, it's not very calorific so it doesn't burn so well. Better for those not so cold days in autmn, perhaps. Oak is the king of woods and then there are other woods, can't remember exactly what they are but fast growing, that burn slightly better than willow and can be coppiced. Beauty of willow is it can be used for many other purposes.
I've become a bit of a renewable energy geek. We are looking at installing a solar thermal system DIY at a cost of about £1000. It's a Navitron. We have to build the south facing glass walled extension first to get the right roof aspect! We would also like some solar PV but finances may mean there is a wait for that. Our priority after windows (which we've got priced up in aluminium and have a fairly good quote for), is the external heating. For those of you with stone buildings in Wales, a company called SA12 is offering free external insulation. Unfortunately, our property doesn't qualify because we have a cavity that can be filled more cheaply so they'll only offer us that service - we don't want to fill our cavity though because it's there for a reason, especially on our wet ground on our exposed hill!
Like you all, we want to keep our bills down and we are going to struggle to reduce usage with five of us, three growing kids who will be using more and more hot water etc as they age. We are aiming to reduce wastage and capture any passive heat going.
Who was the weaver? Rummer? There's someone on one of the FB pages that I follow offering a barter: free fleeces for some spinning....0 -
Whatever it is, CTC, I wish you all the very best
Dave - I see there was a certain amount of action around your way last night. Hope all OK with you.0 -

Action? Here?
We're fine.
EDIT: Ah, found it and I know [STRIKE]exactly where it is. Wouldn't surprise me at all if it was deliberate. There have been "funny goings-on" there for a while.....[/STRIKE] nothing.0 -

Have to say my first thought was that it sounded like it might be 'local issues' aka yet another West Country vendetta goes too far.
I hope they account for everyone & that it was an accident.0 -
