Our rats here are worrying me with the chickens.
Any one used an ultrasonic device alongside poison? do they yave any effect at all? They have pooped alrpund the poison stashes.....so maybe......maybe they are eating it.
The amount of poo is horrifc though, quite too much top contemplate. Why they have suddenly moved in good only knows,0 -

I've only used small versions in lofts to deter mice. They seem to work.
It could be that they've been disturbed from their usual haunt - the building work?
As I think I said before (elderly moments are obviously becoming much too frequent:rotfl:) when we had our rat problem it started after next door knocked down a large lean-to on the back of their place.
We didn't have a bad poo problem though. Some, yes, but not that much. It sounds absolutely grim. :eek:0 -

Not tried the ultrasonic but are currently rat free after about 3 months of significant problem of them in with the chooks.
They do not like change in their environment so we moved stuff around, I made sure I took up the uneaten chicken pellets every night , picked up the eggs every day ( rats had carried eggs up to the overhang in the roof!), had rat control lady visit almost every week, blocked up holes, when we started seeing green droppings we knew they were eating the poison.
I know they will be back again as we cannot eliminate their run down to our stables.
I really feel for you, it is horrible. I have bought an eglu to move my chooks into to try to break the cycle. Chooks keep going back to the stables though so eglu is parked in the garden like a chicken caravan.0 -

But who would tend the animogs?
I had a colleague who became so fed up with the boss, she went to work for VSO in Malawi at the age of 59. Stayed 4 years, rented out her house here and paid off the mortgage. Result!
Boss meanwhile overstepped the mark and, er, 'found a new position.' Another result.0 -
:mad:ooooo bullucks:mad:
I just done a reply, and it went awol...
basically it was saying to LIR... i know exactly where you are going through about the by-pass... wouldnt wish that on anyone... the thought of not being in control on what the council allows to happen near your home.... talking of which, the developers what to start work on the supermarket on or around the 2nd April..
Lotus.... why dont you set an alarm on your phone etc, just to remind you about putting chooks away... as maybe.. little one will not remind you one night, and you remember at 2am:rotfl:
Some really good points on where does priviate and commercial begin on smallholdings/farms etc....
thanks for the offer of the seeds catstails:T.I think i need to put my seeds all in one place, and see exactly what i got...

It will be out in the garden with the old washing up water again.
I think we in the west are going to be OK this year.
I suspect that if more effort was put into finding leaks there would be more to go around too. There's a water guy who sometimes pokes around outside because he knows there is a leak somewhere in the area, but he doesn't seem equipped to find it.:(
So far as I know, it's not on our land, but it's hard to know when there's the added complication of septic tank outflows to consider and no map of where those go. The previous owners were lax recording where they put underground stuff and we've been very lucky to speak with the chap responsible for burying some of it.0 -

So do I. Best fish & chips and place to eat them that we found in Wales.
.....But, blooming cold area in the winter; a real frost pocket IMO.0 -
