Ho hum. A night of vomit and diarroeah... Only one child, thankfully, although it may be a warning of more to come.

I'm still feeling a bit blurry. I may sound confused, but fortunately, it's not so confused in my head. It just comes out that way! :D If we go underfloor as our main heat source, the solar thermal and Air Source heat pump would provide the energy for the underfloor and some hot water for showers.

The woodburner was a thought for backup, as Dave says, when there mayn't be as much energy generated from the two sources that rely on sun or a higher ambient temp. But I had no idea they could be so expensive so we'll have to look at alternatives. If you have a buffer tank into which any "waste" warm water is chucked until it's needed, then a back boiler which heats water on a woodburner can be utilised to make water for washing/shower - but probably not underfloor...

The possibilty of doing something with the Rayburn is yet to be explored. It may be a cheap option. I do like the idea of reusing these old things, but it's often impractical. OH wants fire - wants to gaze into the flames of a woodburner. I wonder if the Rayburn could be converted back into a solid fuel stove and a glass door put on it!!! :rotfl:

Sombre thoughts about Connecticut. It's a sad, sad day.

If going back in time we were still to go biomass I think I would forgo some efficiency to be able to see the flames. It would still be in my utility, but I feel more comfortable assessing a flame tbh than I do what a digital screen says about a flame

I don't think I am wording this very well :rotfl: what I mean is if I ideally want say 10 pea plants what % extra should I sow to allow for seeds that do not germinate or thrive.

:D No, I was just teasing. I knew what you meant.
I tend to just follow what it says on the packets or search online for instruction.
In the case of peas it could be

Shingles are grim. Hope you're soon better.
Yes, it's a terrible year for Norovirus (D & V). It started earlier than normal this year as well. Hope your son's soon over it, alfie & rozee's family, too.
While on medical things, does anyone here use the Epleys Manouevre for vertigo?

I'm sorry, alfie, due to all the wet weather, & in a bid to minimise damage, the ponies have been free-ranging all available winter-grazing. There wouldn't be enough grass left to keep more.
I think we'd be a bit too far away, too.
  • Alfie.... oooo noooo hoss whisperer friend, I Bet there are other people in exactly the same position with their animals etc...but it sounds like its all tumbling down for her with the house fire as well..

There is nothing i can physically do to help Alfie, but i could give something to help if you could find somewhere to rent for them ( it wouldnt be much, but hopefully it would help)

sounds as both you and the 'nipper' are in the wars.... take care, an hopefully you both be ok for crimbo....
