Choille, I remember my Dad's passing and how much stuff there was to sort out, all happening very suddenly. Most people/organisations were understanding, but like you, I found myself shouting at a couple of them. :(

Don't beat yourself up. They aren't worth it. ;)

Thanks from me too for these. :D They've been saved in me favourites.

While my FiL can make doors, he might be better employed doing something more individual when the time comes. ;)

Be careful. Over time planked (ledged only doors) tend to drop more readily than ledged & braced.
We've got all 5 forms of the planked doors shown here -some hundreds of years old others modern & it is true that some styles are more prone to movement than others.

Tides in, boats leaving harbour and a large tarped structure has appeared on the harbour wall, Verity?

Okehampton auction yesterday, apartment floor now covered in bits and pieces as we go thru the usual highs and lows. Not sure atm how we've done

Well, we did detour back to meet up with mr & mrs davesnave, lovely friendly couple!! Very impressed with all the graft and changes made and the chooks were great !. Thanks so much for showing us around and for spreading RAS's largesse even further , those plants are immense :D. Got back after driving thru torrential rain, not that it ever persistently p's down in Devon :D

    Oh yo ho ho ;):D

Verity's not due (forgive the pun) quite yet but, who knows? How large is the tarped hump?

Has anyone seen domesday preppers on national geographic?

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I think it is hoarding on speed:rotfl:

I agree you should allways try and have astock of things etc for emergencies.. but this is extreme..

    well worth a watch
I follow a few of the American Prepper pages on Facebook. There's some useful info on some, but it's mainly so that I realise there are people out there a helluva lot more extreme (mad?) than me :)

Well, I'm pooped again! Spent most of the day in a 'useless' activity, clearing more of the neighbouring farmer's overhanging branches down at the stream. Now I have another bonfire pile, because I'm unwilling to drag all the branches up the slope. :o

Useless or not, 40 metres of stream is now much clearer and I've planted some primulas, shuttlecock ferns and astilbes, so I feel like I'm getting somewhere with my damp and shady, not-quite-woodland area! Some of the wilder-looking hydrangeas will like it near there too. :)

I've been waiting for weeks to hear from Pete about the fencing, both at the streamside and along the neighbour's boundary, but I know he's been too busy. The trouble is, at times when he's not so stretched, the land is likely to be either too wet or too dry. :(

Anyway, having had the time to think, I've decided to take this theoretical fence along a new line away from the stream, which will give us about 1/4 acre for a new copse. Pete never cuts that bit for hay, and he hasn't even topped it this year, so I figure we might as well get it down to ash trees and similar ASAP.
