Helloooo...! Thought I'd better sign-in to prove I haven't gone AWOL too..... :o

So glad you had a great time and the weather was kind at the Bash, CTC. Looking at those legs in the pics, I'd guess their owners were a little tender the next day.

Loved rhiwfield's Darwinian adventures with a new life form behind the fridge too. :rotfl:

Haven't been anywhere else yet, but hope it was all good news at the posh place with absent pianist, lir.....Keep taking the tablets. ;);)

My own adventures have been pretty mundane. They've mainly concerned keeping on top of this place with tools which all seem programmed to self destruct....such as Pete's old mower, which shed its silencer in dramatic fashion when I hit a bump. The bloomin' thing went under the front, hit the rotor and then shot out sideways into the hedge,. It took me ten minutes to find it, and when I did I wished I'd not bothered, as it was split in half. :(

So, that's both a mower and a brushcutter with no silencers, but I have the technology... ear defenders.;)

Today, the petrol tank tried to fall off as well, but I'm getting wise to this, so five minutes with a spanner and a bolt from the old greenhouse and a potentially 'interesting' situation was avoided. :D

Anyway, all the grass is done, so if the weather breaks again, at least we're decent. :A

Well, sun's shining (now after grey wet midday), chooks run and coop lashed down for winds forecast but not blowing, chooks continuing their mission to remove all the woodchip on the side beds.

Alf, majolica lamp listed at a chunky price, dont really care if it doesnt sell, I think its gorgeous and wont mind keeping it. Just sold some old blacksmiths stuff to a film hire company, should've charged more!

Dave, once sheared thru the driveshaft of a mower, leaving that and the centrifugal blades spinning on the grass :D. But another time, with a new mower, a mole stuck its head up as I was passing . Then there's the fun time to be had mowing over an underground wasp's nest :D.

CTC, there are some absentee friends, hope they post again to let us know they're ok

I wish my moles would do that :p Make it easier.

I saw one throwing dirt out of a hill the other day, queitly got a spade and waited, saw it again, dug a massive spit out with the spade (well that was the plan) I actually threw the spade one handed into the soil, and hit a submerged brick, I've just got the feeling back in my right hand :D

Davesnave...... when you were going to markets selling your plants.... was there certain plants, and plants within a certain price range that used to sell well/better?....

Yes, those that were in flower! It also helped if they were cheaper ones, or in a deal, like 3 for £5 or whatever.

But as I was saying on another thread last week, the venues and the prices need to match. Markets are one thing, but at plant fairs it's better not to sell cheaply, if know you're going to empty the van regardless.....;)

The main thing is to make sure that what you grow has either a long flowering season, flowers twice with a cut-back, or that you've planned so that your displays don't look empty of flowers either early or late in the season.

Very early season can be difficult, which is where lots of good quality, laminated photos come in. People notice if you've shot them yourself, rather than lifted them from magazines or the Internet. They 'believe in' real photos more. Nowadays, there's plenty of free photo software that allows you to write the name of the plant directly on the photo too. :)

Other tips are that pros never use orange coloured pots and theuy dress the table in black rather than gingham etc, so that the plants can 'speak' for themselves. If you go for a colour, green is best. When we started out, we went with blue tables & drapes, but it never felt right.....so we changed, at huge expense. :(

However, for boot sales and markets alone, this is being way too picky!:rotfl:
