Busy on here again I see :)

Glad I didn't go the auction CTC. I woulda been after the stock fence. Well done. Sounds like a great deal. If we go we must meet so we dont end up bidding against each other.

We're happy with our trailer. Saved over £400 on the new price and it's only 18 months old and barely used. Still, it's a budget buster. Steptoe & Son eat your heart out. And the seller breeds chickens. I woulda been home with two lemon bantams and a makeshift house if OH hadn't looked really stern and reined me in.

LIR.......lol about the new green wellie people...

You can spot the newbies a mile off.......( i was one of them years ago)

We have been going to the farm auctions etc on and off for about 14 years....When i havent been for a while, it does suprise me the change in prices for things...

There was an old marble top wash stand, which the top part needed a little bit of TLC, which i did bid on, but didnt go to the price that it was really worth, as i thought even though it would look fanatastic in the new place...it wasnt essential..so i didnt win that...

Rozee, there were 3 lots of 5 rolls up for auction... we had the middle lot, which so happened to be the cheapest:T

Normally the the first lot of something ends up being the highest price, and then the extra lots get cheaper... but it didnt work like that on the wire:rotfl:

Hubby did say ( even though i havent been for yonks, he has been going down on a few ocassions to have a nose) he hadnt seen the fencing there before....so i dont know if it was a one off, or it might be at future auctions ( hope so)

The thing is with auctions if there are things you know you are going to need, make a list, and find out the prices new, and see what prices they bring second hand on ebay....I have been looking at livestock trailers on ebay etc... and an Ifor williams secondhand you can pick up from anything from £500-£800, but i have seen some trailers that need a bit of TLC/work go for £200-£300. sooooooooo when if/when we are in a position ( or feel extremely guilty we are borrowing our friend's too much on a regular basis) then i know roughly what I Want to pay for it..

Just need to look out now for good value barb wire..so it has been recommended, that we put a line of barb wire on/near the bottom of the ground, and then a line of barb on the top of the fencing... They said the bottom line of barb wire will stop the pigs from digging under the fence..

Anyway guys..... dont get caught out today.. with April fool, I see Martin has something on the 'latest mse news' 'Print your own money service launch':rotfl:I bl00dy wish:p

They were seeded quite early and I passed on half of what you gave me to my far more green fingered MIL, so we'll see how she gets on.

Thanks again. I love planting seeds.

I've just had a brainwave and realised that until the build starts, I've an unused conservatory that's going to be ripped out and will make an amazing plant nursery meanwhile YAY!

Glad to have an update Rozee! :j The story behind that Mortgage Lifter is very interesting, I read it avidly when I found it on the net.

I still have plenty of seeds so if anyone has changed their minds and wants to try some Kentucky Heirloom tomatoes FOR FREE drop me a pm - I have the best part of a hundred different varieties. Otherwise I shall keep hold of them and they will be departing these shores sometime before the end of the year.

RUMMER - so sorry to hear things are bad, please take care of yourself as best as you can *hugs*

Thanks everyone for the kind words about our kitty, I think it likely that we'll be having a new feline family member in about 8 weeks time after our holiday. In the meantime we've just got to plod along. The fence is now 99% finished after we lost it in January so I think I'll insist on the house going on the market just the other side of Easter. Time for action!

Were thinking of organisng a Chainsaw and fencing party:D over the next few weeks.... with BBQ, music etc....even if the weather is a bit naff, We have a 20 x 10 ft Market stall we have never used:cool::D so might as well start making some use from it...

Hubby and the boys are going to cutting wood/logs this afternoon, to start making a stock pile, ready for the cold snap thats coming, plus so we can try out the fires in the new place, hubby normally just cuts the wood as we need it...

Toddler fell flat on her face today at site. Busted lip and bloody nose... Really need to sort out that fencing so we can contain them in safe areas. Gonna look on t'internet for a price and then take it from there. There are a few auctions dodging around here, but we may have to buy a small amount of new. Child safety is the priority.

Happy with our trailer, CTC. It's practically new/unused and we haven't got a super bargain but we tend to find that good quality things don't sell at bargain prices unless you're really lucky or can wait. If we put it on ebay today, I think we'd get at least our money back, as six plus year old refurbed ones are selling for a similar price to what we paid, (plus they're miles away, so you have to factor in diesel costs) so we're happy that we can, in essence, use it for a few years for a minimal cost if/before we sell it on. It's the same approach we took to buying our campervan.

I have to say though that I think that trailers are functional really and our Ifor Williams trailer is a little bit like the new green wellies! I bought a pair of canary yellow Hunter ones when we moved here, though the purchase was steeped in irony (plus they were in the bargain basement sale - canary yellow, after all). Problem is, the locals probably won't realise that and I therefore just look like a !!!!!!, plus they don't keep your feet warm :o

Sailing club dudes in Abersoch always used to have yellow wellies on their boats (my deah!). My dear friend A who used to stay at our caravan and observed the sailing crowd always craved a pair of "blue yellow wellies"! :rotfl: I knew just what she meant though... And so I suspect do you - you have "yellow green wellies"! ;)

Sorry child had fall and mishap - it's difficult around caravans to be totally safe. We think our decking is childproof (even have gates on it now, though they're really to keep the bunnies off the deck). But we have a sort of crows nest mini-deck up in the hedge reached by steep steps, and it isn't fenced off yet. We must deffo get to that this year as GrandTwins will be running up and down those steps by next year I suspect. We don't want them doing a Tarzan off the top of the steps or the through the side of deck onto patio... I've managed to hurl myself down the bank there on several occasions, and the patio isn't forgiving, not for me, or my digital camera - wrecked 2 on it so far now! :o
