Roozee hope your little one is ok.

To celebrate finally getting my allotment I bought a pair of pink hunter wellies (mse as they are half height ones as we got half a plot :))

Coff looking forward to hearing about your dream. Mine and Mr RCTs is some years off so while we are working towards it I love reading about others.

Right I have sowed lollo Rosso today which I love so it's baking in the greenhouse along with some sweet peas. I wish my other seeds would hurry up and do something like grow :)

Thanks for your concern. Little one is fine. She's tough as old boots (a pair of canary yellow Hunters :rotfl:)

Maggie, I can't remember how old your twins are but our's are two this month and they are into everything . It really is impossible to take your eyes off them for a second.

To prove the point Loli has just posted something through the letterbox (from inside to out....) She's now bereft because dad has told her off. We often find things reposted when people find them on the pavement outside the front door.

    Ok good beak first.

To my eyes a good beak looks very slightly undershot at the bottom. Not too much, or you have the opposite problem our ex batts have, but very slightly

This is good beak chicken bang bang

The most common bad beak i have seen is like this when you see it being sold ;)
    c1cbcbf3.jpg

See how it looks matched? That means its actially not a perfect chicken bite, and the beak is proe to growing wonky, which sounds ok till ypu realise two things:

Firstly the chicken might struggle to eat.honestly, not something i have seen in a well trimmed problem beak, but the second issue is if you do not trim the whole beak can crack nastily, causing problems and pain. Here is a chook whose beak is in need of a tidy, but not a massive cut ( had to trim it a lot when she arrived )

All my really good feet are already roosting this afternoon
    f52814fe.jpg

But paula's tippy toes can be seen, just

    cf52bb88.jpg

Straight, balanced, carrying her light weight evenly.

Many chooks toes curl with age, chicken bang bang did have ok toes, but she is five now and the very slight deviation she had as a spring chicken is becoming more pronounced

    3d0cd320.jpg

So what is a slight issue when young can get worse. It doesn 't slw bangs down, but it will be uncomfortable i guess. Buy straight toes chooks, you will get some curled toes with time, but you start problem free.

Not my twins, I'm the GrandMag to them. ;) They will be two in May, and I must look up their birthday! Have one nice book for them, and another similar pre-ordered (not out yet)that I hope will arrive in time for birthday, both nature pics for small children... Prob a little old for them yet, but hope they will enjoy the pics. They seem to like books already! :j Plus DD gets some cash to spend on what they might need clothes-wise or whatever or to put in their savings if that is more appropriate. Today they've been visiting their GreatGranMary (OH's Mum) and playing in the field across the road from her house that is a footie field for the local youth league on Saturdays.

Have to try and get our garden here a bit more child friendly... We have a lot of ragged bamboo stakes around the place that were put there in winter to try discourage the local cats from pee-ing on the garlic etc. And the squirrels from digging up our saffron crocuses. Going to dig up the latter now it's nearly died down and plant in pots in the front garden where at least we don't have the squirrel problem. The cats of course are a different matter!

    Hi again Rozee,

I thought you might like to take a look at the book I have already, it really is lovely. Outside Your Window: A First Book of Nature [Hardcover]

The other one that is still to arrive is by the same authors, and looks very similar, but I think that might be good for the Twins. The same but a bit different if you see what I mean! ;)A First Book of Nature [Hardcover]

I think both books are a little old for the twins, but the pictures really are delightful, so I think they will enjoy them. And I know DD will put them away if she thinks the Twins aren't ready for them yet.

After running the school bookshop at my daughters' primary school for about 5 years and my girls always wanting a book each every week (pain in the wallet! ) I know that books will always be expected from me! :rotfl: :j ;)
