Officer - Excuse me sir is this your vehicle?
Jeff - Ermmmm... Yes.
Officer - Did you know it's illegal to park here?
Jeff - Ermmmm... Yes? :doh:_pale_
Officer - :wall:
It wouldn't end well......“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

That reference was made once, by one person.0 -
Having had similar 'discussions' about similar behaviour and drivers' attitudes I now have the single response of "maybe you should contact your MP about it." People seem not to care what the ACTUAL law is, just their personal idea of what the law SHOULD be. I'm more than happy for these people (on either side of the argument) to follow the appropriate paths in a democratic country to try to change things for the better (as they see it), but don't try to take things into your own hands, especially if you're armed with a high-powered tonne of steel capable of killing the other person! It's only numbers.0

Here is an example of how I behave on the roads.

Sadly, my camera captures a wide variety of other behaviour!
Excellent :T
Just how a cyclist should behave rather than getting in the way of paying road users(and so much safer for the cyclist too)

It seems that, in the majority of videos thrown up by that link, the cyclist is way too far out and therefore endangering themselves (and may cause damage to passing vehicles), even to the extent of ignoring cycle lanes!0 -

I can sympathise with them though, have you ever used a cycle lane?
They have to contend with potholes, drain covers, water and debris. It's no wonder they don't use them.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Get out further, much further, as you need to allow for the cyclist dodging or hitting a road defect, or even just being hit by a strong side wind.
It sounds plenty far enough for me. A yard is quite a long way to miss something.
It would appear to be a foolhardy cyclist who started swerving about just as a vehicle is passing them?0 -

Perhaps you'd care to read a copy of cyclecraft?I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.
Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.0 -

Having seen the number of quotes from it on this site, I probably don't need to.
In view of the fact that I'm never likely to ride a bike again, I certainly don't need to.0
