Sold £299 ebay item for £1.04. Shock!

Have just logged on to Ebay.
My buyer has paid by Paypal, so I get only 70p after fees!!!
I never issued an invoice and my listing states cash on collection.
I do recall a poster saying they would feel too embarrassed and ashamed to pay just £1.04 for a £299 item. I guess the buyer doesn't want to count out the pence into my outstretched hand, hence the Paypal payment.0 -
For the posters who asked, yes I am a private seller and not a business seller and yes it was a new but unpacked item of furniture.
I am trying to sell everything that is surplus to our requirements to raise some money, not to have a buyer exploit me!
That is just some background information.0 -
to all those who say the seller should honour......well wouldn't it be better to donate the item to a charity shop rather let it go for 70p?Never put off until tomorrow what you can avoid doing altogether.:D0

lj,
That very same thought has occurred to me. I would rather donate it to a cancer charity.0 -
We can please have a vote on whether I should go through with the sale?0
-
I would not go ahead with a paypal payment
message the buyer and inform them of the issues with PP and collection
as for not liking £20
it laughable given the distance involved0 -
Look it's simple,
message buyer, "sorry I am no longer able to honour the sale - listing is withdrawn" You don't have to give any BS excuse just tell them that and ignore all further communication.
If you get a red mark who cares?
And in future use a reserve, if you don't want to do the dodgy practice of shill bidding with your friends account, but the truth is a lot of them shill bid and no one gets caught, no one who hasn't sold a motor with a clocked odometer attracting the attention of the local trading Standards that is.0 -
Thank you for your support with this distressing sale.
I have looked at the buyer's feedback and it appears he only buys total bargains.0 -
What's more, is that when I offered to deliver I had put the buyer's address into google maps to see where it was and what distance.
I have just had another look, this time on satellite view and on street view. I could identify the actual house and I was shocked by what I saw!0 -
my partner once listed a tail gate for an audi tt and forgot when it was ending, it came with window, spoiler and badges so should of been worth quite a bit, it sold for 99p and the guy was coming to collect and the idiot paid via paypal, the cheek of it so my partner must of ended up with about 50p after fee's hahah never ever start items at 99p if they are worth more0
