Which of these boilers do I go for?

  • You asked for an honest opinion & I've given you one, wether you like it or take it on board is upto you, it's not my money I'm wasting, IMO any decent RGI wouldn't touch ideal with a barge pole, but like I said it's your money not mine, I won't bother recommending a boiler to you as you only seem interested in ideal, sometimes all the bad press you read is justified.
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.
  • Ask 20 rgi's which boiler and you will get 20 different answers. For what it's worth, I would recommend Intergas.

I'm assuming that you are an installer who has based your opinion on previous models and neither has one of these fitted yourself nor installs them.

Whilst I respect that everyone has a right to an opinion I did specifically ask for opinions from those who have had them installed and in particular this model.

If you can substantiate your claims with for instance a high number of your personal call outs to repair/replace this particular model of boiler () then I am happy to take heed.

However I am not in the least bit interested in the bickering which takes place between installers of the different brands as everyone seems to want their piece of the pie.

Yes I know they have had seriously bad press and comment for previous boilers and I am taking this on board, however there are people that do recommend them and this cannot be due to their history since surely any installers recommending them would quickly go out of business if they are still as unreliable and rubbish as they were.

Have had an Ideal Logic Combi 30 fitted today, having had no hot water and very poor heating past 7 years, I am ecstatic. I have a large stone house where I usually have to wear layer upon layer of clothing and have a convector heater running in room I'm in. I am tonight sat in my jamas, with window open!
I will get a free service in 12 months but after that will be taking out a monthly DD to insure it, as the last 7 years have been grim, but we couldn't insure it previously as the pole we bought off did not admit it was knackered!
I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

tbh you would have felt the same had you had any new boiler fitted, it's not day one you should be worried about, i love the way you are going to insure it after 12 months, it comes with a 5 or 7 year warrenty as standard or do you know something some of us already know :D

Energy Saving Champion I've been Money Tipped!
We had a Worcester Bosch 34cdi installed in September, price wise the Worcester and Vailiant are both very similar . If you go to a Worcester recommended dealer you can get a 7 year warranty at the moment.
My only other advice would be stay clear of Glow-Worm, had one of those combi style fitted, it only lasted 6 years and was troublesome from second year. But I am sure others will say they are ok!!
Have a look at the WHICH web sight I found it helpfull.:)
  • I am due to get a Worcester Bosch fitted in the next couple of weeks, so feel reassured that you too have one forever 21, as it is a lot of money.
I am not sure of the exact model yet, I find that out tomorrow.
There is a site called discounted heating, this gives you an idea of the cost differences between the models.
Hoping I am being offered one of the better ones :rotfl:

Mine only has 1 year not 5 or 7 , although I did ask how long it would last but he didn't commit.

most boiler manufacurers are doing the 5 to 7 year warranty now

the only downside is that you must have some sort of service agreement to maintain the boilers

unless they state this extra warranty, all boiler manufacturers abide by the 12 months guidelines, after that the SOGA comes into force for your protection

no i bet he didn't, if you were going for an ideal you should have gone for the logic + this has a 5 yrs warrenty, but even so yours has a 2 yr warrenty see here

completely un true you don't need any kind of service agreement with anyone, but what you must do it get it serviced annually & the benchmark book filled out & any RGI can do this

I think on the WB models it states that for the 7 year warranty to be in effect the service "has" to be done annually by a "worcester accredited" RGI and not just any RGI.

How that might stand up in a court of law i don't know but i agree it doesn't have to be on an insurance policy nor does it even have to be serviced by the installers.
