Co-op refusing to accept NCD

The main problem is they are refusing to accept the last policy was with them.0

As above, you are now the main driver and have no NCD so you pay full price. Why would you expect to get your mothers NCD applied to you as main driver.
When a named driver builds up an NCD it will only apply if the named driver then takes out a policy as main driver with the same insurer.0 -
I think that maybe co-op are misunderstanding the situation (or I am!).
Unless you were a named driver for 12 months+ it doesn't matter whether they recognise the policy was theirs or not. The only NCD applicable on any insurance policy is that of the main driver.0 -

No where am i asking for my mums NCD to a applied to my name! as a previous Co-op customer, they are refusing to accept the insured us last year. Like many insurance companies, they offer a NCD for taking out a second year with them. It was explained to them when i took the policy that we were swapping policy holder and named driver round. they were happy with this for 3 months.0 -
Think I would send them a

I simply cant afford to pay that much money for 3 months insurance! the new premium quote is triple what was quoted and as a young driver it wasn't that cheap to begin with.
The original quote was done over the phone and was based on us already being co-op customers.
It would of been alot cheaper for me to go with most other insurers with out the stupid 'smart box' tracking my every move when it works!0 -
I understand now! Sorry, I wasn't aware that you had had the policy for a full 12 months before hand, I thought the policy had been changed mid term.
In which case, you still have a slippery slope.. I was with Direct Line as a named driver, and when I took out my policy online I put down 3 years NCD (which is what I had). However Direct Line don't recognise this as actual NCD. Although they DO give a discount, it isn't the same as if you had held your own policy. I think it is in the T&Cs. I ended up paying the higher price. The same happened to my Dad however, and he argued that was the only reason he had take out his policy, nowhere had he been told this would change nor had he ever lied, so refused to pay anything but the initial quote price. They eventually backed down, and he paid the lower price, but the premiums went up the next year as they ignored the Named Driver NCD.
Hope this helps and sorry for the confusion!0 -

I had a similar problme with Driect Line on my second year of driving (both years as a named driver) but at least they accepted I'd been on a policy with them the year before.
I should of earned 1 yr NCD with co-op as a named driver to take over to my own policy the following year but my name didnt show on the NCD certificate at the end, i couldn't be bothered arguing it out with them for the sake of 1yrs named driver. At my age it made no difference to the premium and it wont count for anything to other insurers.
I just cant understand why they're saying we wernt covered by co-op last year when all the paper work and certificates have CO-OP in big letters on the top0 -
Have you spoke to other any other customer service advisors about this? It sounds like one of them might have tried to fob you off! Because that really shouldn't make a difference! In fact, most of the comparison websites now tell you to go direct to the insurer but quote a reference number when you do, so there is no broker there...0

First girl i spoke to was really nice, she couldnt understand why this has happened. i asked to speak to the team leader who just repeated herself and said if i have an issue, email her.
I'm so upset about all this, its unreal.0
