Royal Mail Recorded Delivery

It's not miselling, it's not providing the service paid for.
It's charging for the service then not providing it.
That seems to meet the definition of misselling.fill in a p58 and you will recieved a refund on the fee paid.0 -

Why should consumers have to jump through hoops to get their money back? That form is disproportionately time consuming to complete.
I think you will find that a high proportion of RD's are signed for. As previously stated, it's someone not doing their job right. They get enough complaints, they will look into it. Had one in our office would never bring his sheet back, and when he did it was always only special deliveries he got a signature for. He's now my postman, and doesn't get a sig for recorded items.
But I really don't see it's misselling. When the PO sell you this service, they are expecting the postie to do it. Not cut corners. Therefore not misselling.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -

I sent my letter recorded delivery on 8th Feb. I have checked and checked but it did not track as been delivered with the Royal Mail.
I have kept checking my bank as the cheque has not been cashed. However this morning the cheque had been cleared through my bank.
So I am hoping I should get the information next week.
Hope this helps.

Hi April, did you end up getting any correspondence after your cheque cleared?
The 15 working days have passed since I posted the letters and there are still no PODs. Filling out the compensation forms and sending to Royal Mail tomorrow (no real hardship, only a couple of pages each and it's freepost). I can understand that mail goes missing, although I think i'd have to be pretty unlucky to have 3 seperate letters go missing.
Needless to say, I've had no correspondence. So whilst that compensation letter is on it's way to Royal Mail (providing it doesn't get lost...), i'll have to get on with seeing if the banks have even received the letters at their side. The one cheque I did send hasn't been cashed yet. Aprilshower's post gives me a bit of hope though...
I guess my question now is, can banks actually answer the question "have you received my letter/cheque?" what with backlogs and me not necessarily having an account with them anymore. I guess if they have received them - they'll use the account number as a reference?
Has anyone had any experience of ringing the banks to see if they've received the letter/form and is it even worth doing?
Thanks again for all your comments0 -
Hi
I still have not received any information as yet. The cheque cleared last week so I was going to wait untill the end of this week to see if anything arrives.
If I dont get anything by Friday morning I was going to phone:eek:
I did not really want to phone but think by Friday I should have received something from them.
Hope this helps

Well i've sent the required forms to Royal Mail today.
Also got in touch with the 3 banks involved, no record of receiving my letters or cheque...
Turns out that the bank addresses from the PPI forum may be slightly out of date... I've got updated addresses from the banks. I'm going to send the letters out again tomorrow (yep, recorded delivery... Will lightning strike twice I wonder?) so we shall see how that goes.
Also cancelled the cheque.0 -

Well I sent the compensation forms off in the middle of the last week, on Saturday morning - I received my original letters back. My feeling is that they may never have left the post office, or they've got to a point and been left there.
Nevermind, these things happen. I sent the letters out again on Saturday using recorded delivery and they've all arrived (2 yesterday, 1 today).
Cheers again for any comments.0 -
Had one in our office would never bring his sheet back, and when he did it was always only special deliveries he got a signature for. He's now my postman, and doesn't get a sig for recorded items.
Then he should be sacked (if you'll excuse the pun). But I really don't see it's misselling. When the PO sell you this service, they are expecting the postie to do it. Not cut corners. Therefore not misselling.
By that logic the OP has not been missold to, at worst somebody cut corners.0 -
As far as I'm concerned, "Recorded Delivery" is a ridiculous joke. I can quote two examples of mail I have sent using this "service" which, according to the Royal Mail Track & Trace facility "are being progressed through the system" - yet the addressee has signed for them !!!
I also have examples of mail sent to me by Recorded Delivery, which have come straight through the letter box without my signature for them.
Despite letters to Royal Mail about this shoddy treatment of recorded mail, nothing changes.
The only thing this organisation is good at is putting up the price of stamps.0
