Royal Mail Recorded Delivery

My hands are sort of tied at the moment as it's not been 15 days since I posted...
Royal Mail's compensation and refunds page on their website.
(vii) Items sent by 1st Class, 2nd Class, Standard Parcels and Recorded Signed For™ are not classed as lost until 15 working days after the due date
It will be 15 days on 5th March, so everything will have to happen on the date. I'll ring the banks and confirm with them then whether they've received the letters and cheque or not. Even if they have - i'll still complain to Royal Mail (if there isn't a POD on the system by then).
I've read on the successes thread that banks tend to respond within 2 weeks to confirm that they're looking into a claim, so here's hoping...
If they haven't received them then i'll send the letters again, cancel the original cheque and ask for proof of postage at the post office.
I'm even tempted to use a courier service like DPD or TNT if it comes to it. Peace of mind is worth paying extra for in my opinion.
for stuff that involves money or large potential loss/hassle
then RM Special Delivery is the service to use
yes,its £5 dearer,however its about the potential loss/hassle0 -
Royal Mail's website says "If you have an important item to deliver, our Recorded Signed For™ service gives you complete peace of mind with proof of posting and an electronic copy of the signature available online."
If that electronic copy of the signature is not made available online then I would say that is misselling.0 -

It's not misselling. It will be online. If it gets there. What people need to remember when sending Recorded Delivery, it goes with main stream mail. Therefore it can be lost just the same as normal mail. Whereas, using special delivery, it's secure and tracked every step of the way. Not only at delivery like recorded is. They can't exactly upload the signature if they haven't delivered the item yet...4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -

I regularly get Recorded Delivery items through the letter box without a signature being asked for. How exactly do you think they will get my autograph online in those circumstances.
It works the other way too. The last thing I sent by Recorded Delivery also never appeared online - yet know it was received because the recipient gave it back to me.
So a payment for the delivery to be recorded is accepted but the record is not taken.
That is misselling.0 -

Hi
I sent my letter recorded delivery on 8th Feb. I have checked and checked but it did not track as been delivered with the Royal Mail.
I have kept checking my bank as the cheque has not been cashed. However this morning the cheque had been cleared through my bank.
So I am hoping I should get the information next week.
Hope this helps.

Then that's something you should be complaining about to Royal Mail. That's a or several posties not doing their jobs properly. Not misselling. You are paying for a service, RM are passing that service on to the postmen. If the posties aren't doing their job properly, then that should be reported.
If you don't report it, they won't know it's happening. I would claim back every item that they haven't got a signature for.
As a former postie, I know they are not all perfect, god knows I made mistakes, aren't we all human, but what you're describing is blatant not doing the job properly.
I would also ask, how, at the post office, would they know, at whatever end of the country that certain posties are not doing their job properly?4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
