Tesco Broadband

I'm currently with o2 on the "original" service (£9.50) (no throttling, caps etc, for some reason my connection is set at 20Mbps though lol) and Madasafish for line-rental (£11.99). No problems with either, had fantastic service all round. Just ditched o2 mobile for three, so the broadband will increase by £5.00 per month.

Saw the Tesco press release on Techradar the other day, and have to say initially the line-rental looked steep, but as a package it seems a very good deal.

Anyone with Tesco broadband or on any CWC resold services, what's the network like, reliability (I remember in the days when CWC owned Bulldog, it was terrible), speeds, any significant throttling employed etc...

Also, can't see anywhere on the site a mention of upstream speeds, anyone know what it is? What's the customer service like?

Cheers!!

.....as long as you have an O2 number you can get the discount - find a friend with a PAYG O2 phone - as long as they aren't using it to get a discount on b/band you can use the number ...or even buy a O2 PAYG SIM ....worth it for £60 py !!:T

Got an o2 PayGo sim (o2 have transferred my number to it as I've had the same number for 8 years so need to keep it active for a few months).

But I'm not into topping up a phone, that I'm never going to use.

...think they have changed the t & cs since I last looked a couple of years ago ...don't think you had to top up to get the discount:o ....... but as I see it you would still gain (£40 top up per year vs £60 discount?) and my original comment about using a relative/mate's O2 number still stands.

EDIT:when I had a PAYG O2 phone a few years ago I had to top up to keep the number going ...but I just used the excess credit to text/phone relatives when I went on holidays abroad.

Afaik, they have always required a £10 per 90 days topup??

I don't really know anyone with an o2 simcard now, everyone locally can't get off the network quick enough (abysmal is an understatement). Shame, because up until about 18 months ago, "everyone" locally was on o2 for the past decade!!

I changed to tesco broadband from plusnet, had a few problems with the connection dropping but there customer service was good and sorted the problem quickly. The speed is same as i was getting with plusnet 6-7 downspeed and 0.80 ish up.

I got 5000 clubcard points for swopping and £35.00 cashback, So dont forget quidco if u decide to swop.
