Have had real el-cheapos (Event) on all our cars for the past 3 years+. Never had one damaged by the road, never got stuck on mud in fields, never failed to stop in time and never fallen off the road with them! Even coped fine with all the snow last year.

Must just be me I guess

I also agree, spend a bit more cash on the tyres, its your only contact to the road and you'll regret it if you go cheap!

I had budgets on my last car and it just slid everywhere, even during the dry there was no grip if I went over 30mph, had to replace them. Also budgets are noisey as hell.

Do you also agree that all 'premiums' are exactly the same as each other?

After all, you seem quite happy to lump tens of competing products in the same pile...

I guess all parrots can talk.

I've got two cars with "hero" tyres on the back. Can't fault them.

As I have mentioned before I have Admiral tyres on the back of the Mitsubishi, and Pirelli on the front.

Guess which end lets go first? And guess what happens when I swap the fronts and backs with each other?

The Pirellis must be the cheap budgets, right?

I've had Nexen tyres on a Porsche Boxster - got tired of paying an arm and a leg for the so called premium tyres which cost at least twice as much. What I noticed the Nexen tyres lasted a hell of lot longer than the premium tyres which wore out very quickly. Didn't notice any real difference in performance either. They looked just as good too - the tyre pattern.
I've stuck to budget tyres ever since, I currently drive a 3 litre Lexus.
Just check the tyre rating is suitable for you car.

    Classic example.

When people can't afford a real Porsche, they buy a Boxster.

Bit of a dickish thing to say is it not?

Perhaps your suffering from a classic example of NPD -Narcissitc Personality Disorder - this is quite a common strain of infection among 911 owners especially, as they somehow have to come terms with justifying why they spent an extra £30 grand on what is, lets face it, a big heavy saggy backside, that when going round roundabouts they get so scared that their big heavy backside might swing round and slap them in their face. :rotfl:

Whereas the boxster is a perfectly balance mid-engine sportscar. Porsche, just to make the 911 guys feel better they put a slightly less powerful engine.

Probably the truest post on this thread :)

I replaced the Avons on my Alfa V6 with Barums, which are the budget brand from Continental. I've also got some even cheaper rubber on my other car. So far no accidents or incidents, I certainly don't feel I'm about to "fall off the road" at 30mph, in either vehicle.

As an aside, I had Continental Road Attack tyres on my BMW (OE fitment) which were dreadful. When I replaced them with Avon Vipers the grip and handling were much more confidence inspiring.

Real Porsche? Would that be the !!!!!! Panamera, and the lardy Cayenne, then?

A boxster is for those who haven't quite made it in life.
