Do they have proof of this ?
  • Have you wrote back to the DCA requesting a copy of the signed credit agreement, this should then shut them up a while.

Also does your friend know they could get done for acting as a creditor without a credit license?

i am not sure what consitutes blackmail to be honest.
I have done a few things for her,ie ringing her daughter in law and telling her a lie etc, nothing criminal but things that i did becuase I was helping a friend, harmless things but things that left me with a nasty tase.
I told her one night I wouldnt do that again it was awful hearing her DIL abuse me on the phone, and she said that she was sorry to have asked but that she knew i would want to help her as she had helped me with money.
I mentioned that in my defence too the DCA,in the context of explaining that she had not just helped me,I had helped her too,and not just the one time.
have never said that I would tell anyone anything to get out of paying the money, infact in the same email i clearly state that I have never refused vto pay or denied the debt.
this is a lady hated by members of her family for her using her husbands job to intimidate people.
He works in intelligence now for the police and from what she has told me I have very rght to be nervous.
would what I siad really consitute blackmail,i am so niave

My ex-friend likes everyone to toe the line and when they dont she turns the Police on them however she can, even her own mother and diL

They may be saying it was fraud as i asked to borrow and pay from money I had coming in in a lump, but I just havent had it yet,it is still coming, her husband though retured still works for the police in intelligence, and Im afraid due to that

unusual to see the words police and intelligence in the same sentence

if he`s retired i doubt very much he is still working for them as they are busy getting rid of non retired staff atm
i think this so called friend is full of bull tbh OP,if i were you id stop making any payments, refuse to speak to them except in writing and admit nothing, meanwhile get some legal advice regarding repaying the loan

Might have been better to have continued the thread you had already started.

If your friend is making threats, you must report this to the Police, she is using your demeanour as a way to bully you and you are allowing it.

Have you got any advice on this at all? from CAB or somewhere.

At the moment you seem to be divulging lots of information to the DCA and to her when you may well be better advised to deny that it was a loan, or at least to deny there was any agreement as to when it was paid back.

I'd stop speaking to the DCA and friend at all at the moment until you've got some advice.

Try to get it a coherent account of everything that has happened written down.
Start with the dates money passed from her to you and then details as best you can of what communications have gone between you and her and you and the debt collector since she started chasing you. And detail what has been said in writing, what in email/txt and what in conversation only. Keep it just to the factual stuff that is relevant to the loan, not favours you have done for each other etc.
When you have all that written down I'd make an appointment at the CAB.
