The calomine in aqueous cream worked a treat on my two, and piriton syrup.

I also kept them in long sleeved t-shirts and jogging bottoms. I found if they couldn't see bare skin, it was less of a temptation to scratch.
Here I go again on my own....

Thank you all for your replies.

I feel soooo bad......poor little mite was in really bad form all weekend and I thought he was just wingeing. It just never occurred to me that he wasn't feeling well :o .

Thanks to those of you who posted about the calamine in aqueous cream. I got some today and I think it helps. Gave him a bath with bicarbonate of soda and have been giving piriton, calpol and neurofen as and when he needs it.

In an effort to stop him scratching, I mixed some bicarbonate of soda and water to make a paste in a small cup and told him to put some on a spot if it itches. This gave him something to do and helped keep his mind off scratching.

While in my local chemist this afternoon getting the bits and pieces he needed I spied a pair of gloves (99p) with footballs on them. I produced these at bedtime, and he was only too happy to oblige me by wearing them!

The bit I'm actually finding hardest to deal with is the questions......He has been doing 'Easter' at school, and has recently turned into a proper little evangelist! He now wants to know why God allowed him to get chicken-pox.............I give up!!!!!!

Many thanks again to all of you who took the time to reply. Your help made my day a bit better than it might have been.
