As my post said "have also taken a photo from my phone against the SEL and the reciept number at the bottom in the same photo, when you double check before going to CS.0 -
Hello All
Hope someone can help me.
I bought 4 x Tesco tonic waters - price £1.50 total.
I was charged for 4 x Tesco orange squash - total price £3.96
I reluctantly queued up at Customer Services, and 20 minutes later I was given £1.47 refund. I queried why it wasn't DTD and I was told I hadn't been over-charged. The checkout operator had put the wrong item through the scanner (I had bought 1 x orange squash).
Therefore (they said) they are not obliged to give me double the difference.
I think I am out of pocket, but more than that, I was spoken to as if I am a complete idiot in front of a queue of people.
Who should I complain to?
Thanks for reading and sorry if this is in the wrong place...0 -
as you can see i bought these today and they are mispriced (£4 reduced to £5!) under the £5 reduced sticker is a £7 sticker so i dont think they were concentrating today :T

Hi, an overchaarge is an overcharge, it's irrelevant what the checkout operator had done - you are entitled to double the difference. Any excuse not to give dtd, and a carp one at that.
You need to contact customer services at HO - I think it is closed on a sunday. Freephone number: 0800 505 555. Give them a ring an explain what happened, that you are not happy that the store did not comply with Tesco policy, the length of time you had to queue, and how you were spoken to and made to feel an idiot in front of a queue of people and that the level of customer service is appalling. Have your receipt to hand, because they can track your purchase through the details on the bottom. CS are able to send you a Tesco money card for the dtd, sometimes they may up the amount a little if you really lay it on about how badly you feel you were treated and that the episode has upset you and has put you off shopping with Tesco in the future.
Tesco came up with this policy to discourage customers from going to Trading Standards with complaints, sadly some staff do not like adhering to the company policy. You could also suggest some store training, as to what constitutes dtd to comply with corporate policy.
Sometimes CS at head office can be unhelpful; if you are not happy that the matter is resolved to your satisfaction, hang up and ring again a little later and speak to another CS person. Good luck. HTH0 -
The correct procedure is:
Buy product through manned till.
Go to car.
"check" receipt
Go back into store, double check SEL - to make sure your not going mad. Take picture at this point if you want.
Go to cust services and explain the overcharge.
Walk with CSA to sel to point out the error.
Return to cust service desk to wait for half an hour whilst they get on the phone to a manager "to see if it is an overcharge" or somesuch coded !!!!, without explaining why.
Be offered a refund to sel price or full refund and sale back at lower price.
Ask them about the DTD policy on the board behind them.
Wait for them to get back on the phone to the same manager so they can mutter "they want DTD, the cheeky, thievin, robbin, scumbag" to the manager, who authorises it.
Wait whilst the SA huffs, puffs and whines whilst processing DTD, preferably muttering to other SA's who are behind the desk, giving you evils.
Get dtd, and walk back to car.
Remove daggers SA have thrown in your back before you sit in the car.
Wonder what you will do with the next hour of free time you have.
This is so accurate and scarily true. This is now the procedure in all stores I frequent. :rotfl:I am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.

I went to tesco yesterday and i bought some brioce bread 8 pack. the label under it said £1 so i got it. when i checked my reciept it was £1.90. when i went back and looked at the label it was for a 6 pack althought there wasnt any packs of 6 but all of the ones i bought. i just wanted to know if tesco would have to honour it or blame me for not looking properly?0

Just purchased Douwe Egberts 190g pot of coffee, the SEL said half price was 6.59 now 3.29, when checking receipt I had been charged full price and got DTD back, but just checked tesco.com website and see it should be the PURE GOLD blend but my store had put the light roast PURE SMOOTH out, although I cannot see this one on the website, anyway might be worth checking, the B/C ends 9441 on mine.0

I don't personally think they have anything to 'honour' in this case. Similar thing happened to me recently with some chicken. Just because it was the wrong type of pack in the space, they didn't have to do anything. The sel clearly showed which item the offer was for, so it was up to the customer to lift and pay for the right product. I had been hoping for a great DTD which would have given me the chicken almost for free.......wasn't happy with myself for not noticing!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

The other time I bought 2 pack of Knorr stock pock on offer, but was charged full price. Turns out the offer price tag has expired but the workers have yet to remove them. Do I qualify for DTD?0
