Your unpleasant reply does not warrant a reply, but for the benefit of the OP:

Please follow the advice in post #2.

There you'll see that it is not unusual for reps from the scam ppcs to pose as newbies here and pass on their "wisdom" about paying up.

And many more rebuttals for the type of "advice" davewinston has chosen to give you!

My last comment on the subject

Sorry to the OP for wasting their time by offering useless information and also for my "unpleasant reply".

You must understand though Quentin, not all new members are from these iffy companies and it is quite off putting for me, as a new member to have someone with the number of post you have saying ignore what I`ve said without even taking the time to point out why I maybe wrong or to link to a post that contradicts my advice instead of taking the rude and abrupt ignore stance

I am no law expert or even an expert on parking issues but the advice I offered is only what I would do my self in that situation

To be fair, if they have no photo or video evidence that the OPs car was even parked there then it`s your word against theirs and for all you know they might have entered the wrong reg or may be mistaken and if they have no solid proof that the car was parked there then you can deny it all the way

I know if I got a summons through the post for not using a seat belt and they had no photo/video proof, I`d deny it all the way, even if I didnt have a seat belt on.

A pearl of wisdom I picked up watching CSI is "it`s not what you know, but what you can prove that counts", yeah they may know the OP parked there and was 45 minutes late but if they cannot prove it there is no case to answer for

Anyway, once again sorry to the OP for the duff advice and sorry if I offended anyone in the way I felt offended by posts in this thread
Any advice I give on these forums is my own opinion only, and is what I would do in your situation or, what I have done in the past, please do not slate me for offering what I see as "sound" advice.
    Thanks
    Davewinston

I've moved this to the Parking Tickets board for a better response :)
  • Dave,

Your advice is suspect because you keep talking about fines. They are NOT FINES, they are invoices from scammers who prey on people's ignorance. When you put advice on here and talk about fines, experienced posters (and relative newbies like me) become suspicious very quickly as these companies are known to infest the threads. Hence Quentin's comments.

Hmm! time lapse here. Dave's last reply wasn't here when I started posting.

So because I am new I should be suss? Why should you always suspect the NooB? Everyone has to start somewhere Quentin so why dont you crawl back under your rock and stop being a troll, unless ofcourse you are willing to guarantee that nothing will come of this letter and will offer to pay the fine in full should the OP choose to take your advice and ignore the letter and lands them selfs with a hefty fine, court costs and/or CCJs? Didnt think so

Dave, I don't think anyone wanted to be rude to you, but basically you are purporting to give others advice when you actually don't know what you are talking about- I am sorry. You are approaching this like there is some legitimacy in what these people do. There isn't. It's a money-making scam pure and simple. Don't make suggestions that people discuss it with these companies because if you had troubled to read a bit before posting you will see that there are HUNDREDS of threads saying the companies totally ignore representations and the people who totally ignore the companies eventually hear no more from them.

YOUR ADVICE IS THEREFORE AT BEST CONFUSING , AT WORST COMPLETELY MISLEADING.

I would add that your lack of understanding is typified by the fact that you persistently refer to them as "fines" when they are nothing of the sort.

to the op..nout to worry about,,and yes, advice is to 100% ignore any threat o grams from or on behalf of parking spy,,,,nothing can/will happen as a result of this,,,two things now,,,1)no crime committed 2)you have not been fined or given a ticket,,what you have is an unenforceable invoice/ a request for money,,,,hence the correct and first class advice ,,,ignore,do not contact/enter into any dialogue with parking spy/lie, so relax, chill, feet up, glass of wine.

The reality of private parking companies is that you should ignore them utterly, no appeal as its phoney, and no offers of a reduced amount to pay.

Don't take our word for it though, have a look at what the BBC and Ann Robinson says in Watchdog, there are 3 videos, please educate yourselves on this scam.

Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

Hi, just rang the council and they have told me that they have no jurisdiction over parking eye as it is private land. Should I contact parking eye or should I pay or should I do nothing at all? Thanks for all the help so far has been brilliant. :D

Don't contact them, just ignore them. They have no legal power to issue fines or penalties, but they do try and give the impression that do have such powers.

Tell you what you could do, call your solicitor and/or citizens advice and ask them where the company stands after sending out this letter

Chances are they`ll turn round and say ignore it and they`ll get board but hey may well turn round and offer good advice like contact the company and dispute it or contact them and pay because you may be in the wrong (I`m not saying you are but there is always a chance)

Why waste time contacting a solicitor or CAB? There are some seasoned campaigners here who know what they are talking about. CAB are unlikely to know the true position and you can't guarentee a solicitor will know either.

Two reasons to ignore a "noob":-

    1. You have no idea who they are and it has been known for PPC employees to sign up and post advice to try and trick people in the past.

    2. When they give poor advice (which is the case with you).
