    I've been Money Tipped!
I love the smell too, just unloaded the washer and my cutting down method seems to work pretty well, they smell nice (added a small drop of concentrated conditioner).

I will definitely try asking for some.
    Thanks bunny.

Well seem to have hit a small hitch with washing powder, i am rmembering all these things i have to buy now:confused:

I am trying the cutting down method with our normal clothes (not brave enought to try it with nappies yet), am using 2 baby milk scoops full and seeing how they come out, im pretty sure the recomended 2 tablets or scoop they give you is a marketing ploy to get you to buy more

    Nah im just stingy

The amount of washing powder is definitely a ploy! In fact most nappy manufacturers and advisory people tell you to use half the amount anyway. If you rinse your nappies again after they are finished sometime then you'll see that there is still loads of soap left in them. You can always boost it with a bit of bicarb (buy in big bags from cash and carry - also great for cleaning and odour eating!) or soda crystals. (about 50p a bag)
HTH and good luck - you're braver than me!

It definately is! I've been using one tablet or small scoop per wash for years and I've never seen any difference. Turning your machine down from 40C to 30 C also doesn't make any difference (except to your electric bill!)

I just have a wash load in now trying out soap nuts I had a free sample from

    https://www.inasoapnutshell.com

I will let you know how i get on, there is a ribena stained tea towel in there so that should be a good test.

I used the lakeland wash balls for a few years, the cleaning results are not brilliant, but they were good for colours and very economical. I than changed to cheap powder and a dribble of fabric conditioner, but now my skin seems more sensitive so i'm hoping these soap nuts are good or its back to the wash balls.

    Good luck.

I'd like to give you a tip about magazines. I get loads of free magazines every day from places like Asda, Somerfield, Morrisons, Tesco, Specsavers, McDonalds (occasionally has a free one), Holland and Barratt and an independent health store. Keep your eyes peeled for these as they can satisfy your magazine "craving" without costing anything at all.

  • Best of luck to you !! :money:

Something we just couldn't do !! I'm getting my OH into this saving money lark, and that is to limit our weekly shop to under £100  And believe me she finds that hard to do (5 in house). In fact it usually falls to me to do it to stop the impulse buys !!

Superdrug and Boots are near the door, as is Debenhams.

They are usually just sitting there. I forgot about the superdrug and boots one. Also the Big Issue is only £1.50 which isn't free but at least the money goes to charity.
