No i cant cancel them as they still need to be paid off but i am with in my right to hack them in to teeny tiny little shreds of evilness. I did have used the "what if the boiler breaks" as a reason not to cut them up but OH assured me we are still renting0

Cant you give your Mum the knobbly thing for cellulite that you got free for Mothers Day? My best friend and I used to spend an arm and a leg on pressies for each other, now we have a "freebie" policy - where everything must have cost nothing. I cant believe how much you can get for nothing - I use the "freebie" thread loads. I regularly treat my dd and all her friends to a cinema trip (couertesy of seefilmfirst) I recently took my sister for a free spa day - there's so much to be had!0

Fraid not, been trying to shift the hard skin on my feet (gross i know) think i might just have to get a sheet of sandpaper and do the twist! Also found OH giving himself a head massage with the nobbly bit, he reckons it got rid of his headache0

Hi L - can you make her some body scrub?
Here is what I use:
6 tablespoons brown sugar
3 table spoons olive oil
2 x drops of essential oil (as long as it is safe for skin - rose, jasmin, lavender etc)
Mix up in a leftover tub (I re-use a body shop one). Add more oil if needed but it should be grainy consistency.
Rub over feet and body - not so much the face as it's too harsh for some skin.
Completely natural and practically free pressie ;o)
Well done re the cards - however - if you have cut them up then you no longer need to keep them in your freezer... as long as you know your account details from statements, you can now get rid of the cut up bits as they're no use to you and are taking up valuable freezer space for all thos meal planning days!MFW #185

Country_girl wrote:Wow! Lauren what an amazing picture, you must be feeing pretty damn fantastic at the moment as all your hard work has paid off. I'm not sure I could get to actually cutting my cards up, dont you have to notify the card providers first? The big thing that would worry me is supposing I have an emergency, like the boiler breaking or needing the plumber, the car being stolen or a million more other emergencies that would need MONEY. I just hide the cards I dont want to use from myself but keep them intact just in case!!!!
Hi CG, I dont want to hijack this thread with another discussion but the point about using credit cards for emergencies is that you never would have the MONEY to pay for them and would wind up owing them repayment.
It would be much wiser imo to try to save a reasonable amount say (£500) for an emergency fund and place this is a instant access account so it is gaining interest but is seperate from your current account so you cannot easily dip into it.
As for contacting the provider I dont see any reasonwhy you should have to contact them unless you are closing the account. by cutting the cards up are are making sure that you have no way to allow yourself to be tewmpted into running up debt. In Laurens situation without spending money on items not really needed im sure her family will have enough money saved soon that if an emergency did come up they would be able to use cash to pay for it and not have another bill accumalting interest.
I guess its all about being prepared. that £500 is not mine or for my creditors. its for Emergencies only and real emergencies and not because Im a little short this month.

Can I just ask (and I know it's most probably on the site somewhere), but why would you put your credit cards in the freezer? When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:0

Sue,
The idea is to freeze your CC in a tub of water in the freezer so if you REALLY need to use one, you will have it there BUT it won't be available for impluse buys (like QVC, lol)
