  • [PS] I agree about the crystal deodorants - we use one and it's great. I can't see it ever wearing out! I got mine off the internet somewhere, and only because of the name - Pitrok :rotfl:

I dont wear deodorant when i am at home, although i need to use the palmolive pink one when i go to work, leaning over customers trying to collect their glasses with bad BO after a 7 hour bar shift is not going to do anything for my tip jar!

Although i found a sure can in the staff room (fag cupboard) so will be using that instead of mine and started to "borrow" bin bags from the cleaning cupboard along with some harpic. I will replace them when this year is up, promise

    DAY 5

    I can't believe i have done nearly a week:eek:

It seems my OH is coming around to the idea properly and has switched his normal crisps for space raiders 10p ones for his lunch box saving us 25p a day and is buying cheap chicken thighs and legs for his lunch box and trying cous cous, even the ainsley harriot ones are enough to do 6 potsized portions and for 99p for a weeks worth of cous cous i cant really grumble can i?

I persueded him to change from muller corners to natural yoghurt (trying to find a yoghurt maker on freecyle) and fruit so have cut their lunchboxes down from stupid amount to just over £8 a week for both, luckly our daughters new favorite food is pasta salad with chipattis (brown flour and water mixed in to a dough, then griddled like a pancake for a few mins), curry mayo (tiny amount of curry paste and value mayo) and chicken wrap( off the drumstick) :j

He also is experimenting with making his own style "kettle crisps" aparently the key is to deep fry for a few mins then oven crisp until golden very nice with a :coffee: He wont give up his crisps untill he has perfected the art of it all:p

I'm not brave enough to try and make mayo just yet, sounds too oily. But by next month i should be up and running like a proper "frugasexual":rotfl:

The name of the author you want is Judith Levine

have just started to read it, not very exciting so far so I hope it improves!
    Do what you love :happyhear
  • Tried to get the Judith Levine book from my library but they didn't have anything by an author of that name.

Lauren if you need some free entertainment you could always take up some of the free trials offered by the DVD rental by post companies like Love film etc.

I have done this & as long as you remeber to cancel your membership before the trial period expires you can get through a lot of DVDs. Am on a 3 month one with LOvefilm at the mo(I had been with them before & they are trying to tempt me back) and am working my way through the Little House on the Prarie series.

Good luck for your continued efforts-how much have you actually spent out of your allowance so far?

I found the 'political' stuff a bit wordy and intense, but the practical side OK, Leo Hickmans book appealed to me more personally

I'd ebay the pink dummies.. you'll probably get back moore than you paid! ditto everything else he bought that you don't need!

re sanitary products. What about washable ones? You use cloth nappies so ST's cannot be worse! http://www.hillbillyhousewife.com/sanitarypads.htm You could make your own from old clothing!!! I have a few cloth ones you can have if you wish? PM your addy and I'll sling them in the post .. I wouldn't sell anything gross I promise you!!! Most are unused, donated to me by my friend who ran a business selling them she had millions and I haven't used them.

Beg, borrow, steal or take advantage of every offer sounds fabulous to me!

    Good luck with it!!

This sounds like an amazing challenge and I wish anyone doing this or similar the best of luck. However I disapprove of stealing toilet paper or bin bags from employers or restaurants etc. Why not use old shopping bags as bin bags? I do that with the ones I get from Tesco, they always provide way too many when they deliver my shopping. Don't send / give bags back, use them as bin bags!
