The same girls cuts mine & my son's hair.
I tip for mine but not son's.
I tip because she does an excellent job. Is always on time & mainly because I trust her.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -
I dont tip mine...At £90 a shout every 6 or so weeks I think is quite enough. On top of this my childrens cut is £15 each...Give blood - its free0

I don't tip the hairdresser other than I might out £2 in her tip box if I happen to have my hair done close to Christmas time.
Some may say its stingy but I just dont get the whole tip thing. Why would you tip a hairdresser but not the dentist ? Why tip in a restuarant but you don't tip the guy serving on the meat counter in the supermarket ! Why tip a taxi driver and not a bus driver and so on....... everyone is paid to do their job and if you ask me its most hairdressers (based in salons) that seem to be on to a quick buck. Why do I have to pay 3 times more for a haircut when its the 'artistic director' that does it ? The girl I always have was promoted recently and the price shot up even though I have the same basic cut. Ooops I think I ranted slightly there but hope you get where I am coming from !0 -
I don't for mine but took my girls at the weekend and tipped the girl who did the youngest as her hair gets tangled as soon as it's brushed and she spent ages combing it through before the cut (I had brushed it but it was a windy day!)0

Such a good post, I agree entirely. Surely things like haircuts have a price and thats what you pay? Tips should be a spur of the moment thank you when someone has done something special in my book.0 -
I'm really surprised by some of the posts. I thought that it was the done thing to tip 10%.
My cut and colour takes 2-3 hours and costs about £90.00 so I usually tip between £5-£10 depending on what cash I have.
I do resent it though and don't like the "should" tip culture in restaurants or hairdressers. Surely a tip is if you do somehing above and beyond what you're paid to do.Wedding 5th September 20150 -
Yes, £1 or £2 per child's haircut.0

I wouldn't tip a hairdresser at all.0

My son goes to the barber who charges £5. I always tip £1 as the barber is fantastic with him and I agree with a previous post that children aren't the easiest customers!0
