Oh carp, upset my neighbour

  • Have been pondering it all and don't want to be on bad terms with my neighbour, we get along pretty well. With hindsight, yes, I handled it badly. I WAS tired and at the end of my tether with the noise and really wasn't thinking properly. I'd just been blasted out of a deep sleep, and reached for my mobile. Mistake.

Have decided that I'll leave things till I bump into the mum and just say 'we still talking :D' And hope I get an invite to the house party next time she's away........ I have been given permission to go and hammer on the door next time.

(oh, and in the grand scheme of things the dogs rarely bark a lot, but they are an excuse for justifying things I guess)

Thanks for throwing a few thoughts at me :D

It's called "give and take" for the sake of good relationships - and not jumping to conclusions.
The music was too loud and the mother shot her mouth off, so there was no 'conclusion' to jump to.

The problem would not have arisen if the daughter had displayed respect for other people, and the mother had been more responsible.

OP l can understand her being miffed with your text when she's havinga great time on holiday (presumably enjoying the time away from the kids too :rotfl:). However, if she wants to ignore you when you see her don't waste you're time worrying after.

The correct response after her rant should have been to apologise for her daughters ignorance, or she should have got her daughter round to apologise. :D

    Happy moneysaving all.

I think i would have sent the same kind of text, it was more of a banter ... "thank god your coming home tomorrow ..." but I would have also gone straight over when the loud music started and stopped it at source.

We are detached but there is a house whose garden backs onto the side of our house in effect and last summer we were subjected to listening to Adele's 21 album blaring out from every wide open window and door from the house ... I think the album is fantastic by the way but only when i fancy listening to it in my own home .....

I had only met the women who lived there once, we had not long moved in so i guessed it was a visiting son or daughter responsible for the loud music so i went straight round to ask them to turn it down .... All the front windows were open wide as well so i knocked .... and knocked some more ... waited for a pause in the chorus and knocked again louder .. All of a sudden the music got turnt off, the windows at the front got closed (and locked) and then .. NOTHING :rotfl: So i knocked again but got no response so i went back home to enjoy the rest of the day in the garden quietly :T I put it down to the 'child' not having the b*lls to open the door as they knew they were in the wrong.
I lived in a flat for 6 years and had some hellish neighbours which i didnt tolerate so i'll be damned if i tolerate it now i pay the mortgage :p

Good luck building the bridge with your neighbour, it will be worth it :)
    Ant.

I wouldn't be apologising but thats just me
