Hi Everyone,
I've got a two and a half year old Saab convertable, but the roof isn't working and since Saab have gone bang the local dealership where I've had my car serviced twice and the dealership I bought it from new are both saying Saab won't cover the warranty per the administrators and It'll cost me £120 just to tell me what's wrong before even considering the cost of fixing it. I've got car insurance, GAP insurance and paid the deposit on my credit card. Have I got any options or re-course?
Cheers

did you buy the car from the saab dealership? If you have I would of thought they would assist, as they sold you the car and took the money.
Same thing as (some) Rover dealers did back in 2005..
Good luck.0 -
Can you describe the symptoms of your non working roof..?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

When the manufacturer goes bang, the manufacturers warranty becomes worthless. Whilst the dealer has an obligation it is only an obligation as far as SOGA is concerned - they don't have to honour the manufacturers warranty. Under SOGA after 6 months you have to prove there was a fault present when manufactured which means an engineers report.
Your most probable get out of jail card is the credit card companies liability under Section 75.0 -

did you buy it on HP? if so you can claim against the finance company for breach of contract, as per Supply of Goods Act
however i am surprised the dealer you bought from wasnt interested in helping. they could at least have tried to sell you the new Saab Secure warranty scheme.
or just buy your own aftersales warranty and wait a few months til its sunny and low and behold your roof doesnt work

usually the sensors on these roofs failing.
A good Saab specialist is the way to go0 -
I recall reading that the ex-Saab dealerships still in existence are honouring the manufacturer's warranty. You might want to check this out with the dealership.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

Saab roofs are pretty simple tech tbh, tried and tested motors and rams with a little computer control. The main dealer may honour the warranty, if not follow the next link to find a local specialist.

There are a number of offers on the table to buy Saab, Mahindra (Jag & Land Rover), Youngman (huge Chinese manufacturer), Brightwell (Turkish venture capital) and others. The sums involved are very large, Saab were about to release a large new estate, a new part electric 9-3 4wd and well underway on the R&D for a 9-2 mini rival ( an Ursaab for the 21st century ).
By the way, the car if plugged into a Saab Tech II computer will very likely give you a fault code and tell you what is wrong with itself, any decent garage will do this for a nominal cost.

Get it repaired whatever way and get rid of the car soon. Value of Saab cars will now fall like a chest of drawer thrown from a cliff.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0

Much like houses now, one only suffers a loss when a vehicle is sold. Few vehicles increase in value on the second hand market, Saabs however seem to be doing quite well if the industry are to be believed.

Unless you have some information based on the vehicles you have sold ?0
