Exactly what I was going to ask.
Yet another bloody stupid guideline, if someone wants to die there are so many ways of doing it.

The guideline is stupid, but trying to get them done for breaking a law that doesn't exist is even more so.

OP, worry about your friend and not the Co Op.

If true then I would certainly contact the head office and if I didn't get a satisfactory response then trading standards. This is very serious indeed.

    No it isn't.

It's just a guideline. No law has been broken.

If a very drunk man asking for copius amounts of a substance which could kill isn't serious and just what the guidlelines are there for then I don't know what they are for!

I'm not being funny...but two packs is more than enough for people who want to cause self harm - they probably would even need more than a pack - which again renders this 'guideline' pointless.

but - above all - again, this is a guideline, not law, so yo could complain all you want, but the fact of the matter is the guideline is just that, therefore there is no real complaint.

I personally feel that supermarkets shouldn't be able to sell what used to be prescription drugs on their shelves anyway.

I know it is an opposite scenario, but I had a bad cold last week and I normally get night nurse for it as it dries my nose up overnight and helps me sleep. I am also on Co Codamol 30/500mg. Night nurse is only available from the pharmacy, so I get the usual questions, '' is it for you?, are you on any other meds?'' etc.

Some people are allergic to the likes of Aspirin, ibruprofen, paracetamol. Soe people don't read the labels and can potentialy have contra indications with other drugs they are taking.
I know it is easy to buy them, but you are still messing about with a potentially lethal product in the wrong hands. The barriers to sale are too lapse.

OP says it was friday night so costco was probably shut and anyway dont you need a card for costco proving you are a retailer?
OP.s friend would have probably found it more simple to put their head on a railway line rather than fill in the application form with 2 references required and wait for the card to arrive before they could use it plus by then the drink would have worn off

Yes you have to have a membership card but you do not have to be a retailer, I am not a retailer and I have a card, so presumably if I want to kill myself I can because I am a member.

No waiting for card to arrive, card is issued there and then.

You simply roll up, photo taken, card issued, no references required.

No they have personal and trade membership. They will not sell you wholesale paracetemol to a personal membership. The cards are different colour.

Costco won't sell wholesale packs of paracetemol to normal customers. Only trade memberships can buy them. They are on the shelves but Costco stop you at the till

That is interesting. There is nothing to say that on the shelf.
Have you tried to buy them then?

Trade membership covers a whole range of professions, do they look up what profession you are before they let you buy them and only sell them to shops?

I have never noticed the cards being a different colour, other than the executive membership, which gives you 'cashback'.

I have trade membership but I am not a retailer so could I buy them?
