Just read this on another thread and it made me laugh-
“We've got a Renault Grand Scenic and I cannot recommend it based on our experience, it's called a "Grand" Scenic as that's about what it costs every year on the MOT, I kid you not!”

Daily cost isn't so good at £15.15p but I do a lot of miles!
Anyone else got any figures?
My costs for my last car was 9p per mile all in.0 -

Out of ours, the zafira passed first time, and the old ones, (they've gone through bangers and out the other side into classics, both over twenty years old, but stilll a daily drive) cost about £125 each including the mot fee. And one of those is a twenty year old + renault.0 -

Well, I have just got the old Mondy (2001 X reg Verona 1.8 petrol) back on the road again after selling the missus Mazda 3. The faithful old girl (no not the wife :rotfl:) had not been started for five months, so I recharged the battery yesterday and she started first thing this morning, and settled into a nice, quiet tickover after a couple of minutes. I will take her for a run later, just to deglaze the brakes and se if she is OK.
Nearly 130K miles on her, and to be quite honest I cannot see me selling her.0 -
I can renew the MOT on my car in a couple of weeks, then I'll try and sell it with 13 months ticket.
So I'll be wanting on this bandwagon! Ideally wanting to get into veggie motoring (maybe I should have posted on jim's thread there).
This was suggested on another thread for someone else not particularly seriously but I'm considering it...

Or something similar. Thinking either that era C or E class with any pre common rail engine, or likewise with the BMW 3 or 5...
That particular one looks lovely but is the basic model (no aircon I don't think) and is hideously slow...
Having said that I'm 20 so insurance is an issue with something more powerful...0 -
That C class looks lovely. £750 and should last you for years and could be brilliant value for money, especially if you give it the veg.
I don't think the BMW's are as good on veg as the Mercs.0 -
Arent merc expensive to repair though, even if reliable mostly0

I was seconded to work in Hong Kong for nearly 5 months with my company. I had an MGZT at the time so calculated that with insurance and depreciation alone, I would spend approx £110-£125 a month. My partner was home but didn't drive, so I decided to sell the car and buy a banger for a) bit of house security and b) as a run about during visits home.
I intended to buy a Ford Ka, but got home slightly drunk after a night out in the city, went on ebay, and ended up buying a god-awful gigantic, fully loaded 14yr old Volvo 850 for £500, simply because it made me laugh!! It cost me pretty much zero over the time in HK as already had tax and mot, and insurance was very low, and I sold it 6 months later for £650!0 -

Other suggestions for cheap veg oil ness welcome, luxobarges preferred, but not too ridiculous as insurance may be a problem.
Currently thinking:
W202 C class diesel
E36 318TDS
Erm...Don't think I can stretch to an E class (insurance)
