My 207 will be 10 years old in August - fast approaching bangernomic age again.0

If I keep it for a few years, it might be.
True it's not quite the bangernomics i'm used to, but honestly, I can't keep driving that Mazda. I'm embarrassed to be seen dead in it tbh
You'll have to sell it to yourself when you judge it's worth about £750, THEN you can re-join the club......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

Ok quick update, using the car for my daily 50 mile commute.
Bit smokey on start up so have been using a recommended diesel cleaner and it's cured it. Getting about 45mpg so far and it's running nice and smooth. Put about 1300 miles on it so far so it's approaching 120,000 miles.
So far needed a tyre (slow puncture). Have decided to put 2 new front tyres on as well. Cost so far (3 tyres £168 + diesel treatment £20) so £188.
Reckon it will need a shock absorber too.
Will update on running costs as we go.0 -

Haha, well I picked it up the other week and I must admit, the comfort and luxury is a little bit higher than the Demio..... only a little bit :P
I part ex'd the Demio for £450, which means as a cost breakdown:
Bought for £200, written off for £600, part ex'd for £450.
Net profit of £1050. Pretty happy with that. The dealer said realistically though, cars like the Demio are nearly impossible to sell in a garage so it'll either be sold as seen or sold for parts, hopefully the first as the car still has life left in it.0 -
Yeah, the write-off thing is huge for bangernomics
When I confused my Fusion and they auto-filled the value, it was £850...if someone bashes it I'll be looking at around £840 profit off it
Just waiting for another nice person to rear-end Mrs. G-J's current Mondeo and write it off like they did to her last Vectra, then we can get her a smaller diesel banger
edit - only £850 nett surely, you paid £200 for it??......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

Oops, you're right. £850. Better than a kick in the nuts though.0 -

I like the term Bangernomics!
My car cost far too much to qualify, I spent just over £2k on my vectra 55 plate. Mind you it is going on 5 yrs since I bought it so I think it counts!
Had a real tough decision just before xmas, £500 repair or not. I went with the repair for two reasons really, 1 there is every possibility that whatever I replaced it with would need some work, 2 I am sentimental!.
15 months on and the Vectra is still burbling along. Was getting a bit worried about the thing last month as I could barely change gear. An hours labour at the garage to free up the gearbox linkage has almost sorted it. Almost. Apparently there is still an underlying gearbox issue but (touch wood) it doesnt seem to be urgent. Rear pads needed doing AGAIN - seems the sticky caliper issue wasnt fixed for long so I did them myself. First time I have done my own brakes. It took longer to get the parts from Euro's than to change them, definitely wont be paying to get that done again!
Only issue now is the lack of power. Chatting on the fb forum has lead me to think it is the inlet manifold/swirl flaps that are sticking. So that is the next job.
In other car news we just spent (borrowed) a lot on a 64plate Smax - definitely not a banger. Impending 3rd child meant the Mrs' 1 series wouldnt cut it. A whole new world of problems come into it when looking for cars that fit 3 car seats across the back.£0/£2017 extra income
