Flylady Thread for Monday 19th February

  • Hi all - can I join in please? Been lurking a while and think this may be the way to go. I have joined Weight Loss thread and found it really supportive and helpful so hope that this thread will do the same for me. I want to not mind if someone turns up unexpected rather than worry that the house is upside down!

I am a teacher and on half term this week so am going to start today with today's jobs and then try and catch up with some of the Monday and Tuesday things.

My promise to myself is to post on here every day so that even if I haven't done everything on the list hopefully it will motivate me to do a bit of something every day rather than thing 'tomorrow' which is what I usually do!

As well as the list, I want to do my own list today so hopefully I can post that this evening. Really looking forward to this - decluttering and having a clean/tidy house makes me feel so much better.

DD gone away today until Sunday on AS level geography trip so hopefully she will notice the difference when she comes back - although I'm not touching her room as that's her job!

Welcome Katie, you may find the first few days hard going but once the clearout/up has started it really does not take you long to do the daily list. It has changed my life and its so nice knowing all the bits people dont see are clean too (tops of door frames etc) but can you tell it becomes obsessive!!!

    Todays list:-

    Wednesday jobs
    Bathroom and toilet
    1. Clean Bath
    2. Clean sink
    3. Clean tiles
    4. Clean mirrors
    5. Clean bathroom window.
    6. Clean shower
    7. Clean toilet inside and out and don't forget the bendy bit round the back.

    · Extra bit - clean all downstairs doors.

    Also

Clean kids outside toys that have been freecycled (chose recipient)
    S & S lounge & kitchen
Make pastry for tonights chicken & leek pie
    Pop to greengrocers for veg
    Pop to shop for milk
    Put BM on
    Put WM on
Do ironing (tonight when littles in bed)
    Make some biscuits
    Make jelly
If it stays dry let kids run round garden while I sort shed this pm

Right off to tackle the bathroom. Will give tiles wipe over as they had a good scrub (grout bleached) last week!

    See you later.

    Morning!

Way to go Denise - have a great and well deserved break

CJP - Swish and Swipe is Flylady's phrase for giving the bathroom/ensuite a quick wipe over each day to keep on top of it. I use antibac wipes from Aldi and it means when I give the bathroom/ensuite and good clean there is not much to do.

ScaredyCat - I think you've got my washing..........no just checked and someone has filled out wash basket too

    Ladygrim
    - thank for the joke :p

Welcome Thriftykatie and any other newbies  - this is a wonderful thread and ther are some fab people here to offer tips and support.

TNG / Flyboy - Was watching all the Grow Your Own Veg shows just yesterday and now will buy the book on your recommendation

  • Back already - done half an hours jobs (and in doing so found a few more that really need doing: really didn't like what I discovered when I took the shower screen edging thing off the bottom - yuk!).

Anyway, having a coffee break (well I am on half term!) so decided to do a quick list for what I want to achieve today as well as the Wednesday jobs.

    1. Get sis birthday card and post (lives in Oz so needs to get in post pronto)
    2. Go to bank to change SO for mortgage (gone up  )
    3. Unload DW and refill with pots currently lying around
    4. Load WM and put on timer ready for tonight's cheap electricity
    5. 15 minutes declutter (aim to do this daily)
    6. Menu plan for next 5 days whilst DD away
    7. Freeze milk in fridge so doesn't get wasted
    8. Put away clean washing
    9. Go to the gym
    10. Start shopping list for running out items/items needed for menu planner

Think I need a rest now! Hope I can stick to all this but trying to achieve as much as I can whilst I am an enthusiastic newbie and also have a bit more time than usual.

Think this might post twice - opened a new page because my posting seemed to be just hanging there, so apologies if it double posts.

Did the bathroom on Monday (when I wrongly guessed what we'd be doing ;)).

I've done all the downstairs doors, the actual doors weren't too bad, it was the tops of the door frames. But done now.

Wiped down all the kitchen worktops again and the table and vacuumed the floor. Vacuumed through hallway too and up the stairs. And living room (which I flicked round with the "feather" duster first).

One load of washing done, laundry basket empty.

Sink shiny and drainer cleared. It feels quite good today. Maybe it's just me that feels good today. Never mind, that will pass!

I want to declutter but I've done whatever I can that is mine. I still feel in my head that the house is a tip but a delivery man came here on Monday and asked to use the loo. When he came down he said "your house is really tidy". I just thought "wow, yours must be a mess". But I kept that thought to myself :D My daughter says it's just me, the house isn't as bad as I think. I think it must be inside my head that's a mess. How do you declutter that?
