Heres another of one of those controversial threads, I love em because they get you revved up.

Its strange that unemployed people say they dont have money to do this and that. so there is no argument here in this topic. If you cant afford to do anything then you must be sitting at home doing nothing, thats the logic. Other than that you are either watching tv, cleaning the house or out looking for work. You cant be going on holiday or out at the pub, you never see unemployed people in pubs, thats a fact! So really ive covered it I think.

You are either watching tv, looking for work, cleaning up or 'sitting at home doing nothing'

Like I have said my days are just job searching (even on Xmas day!) and I have no real life anymore so can not do anything else other than job searching as your life stops (well mine has) since losing my job. Can't meet up with mates after work for food and a few drinks as I have no £, can't go anywhere in the day as no £ and should really be looking for work. The only productive days I have are when I really think I have applied for something promising.

I'm sure ive offered you tips how to find a job, maybe you missed them take a look on the other thread that you have commented on.

I read them thanks and still not sure how working at a hospital gets you a job at a bank???

    1. Go to your local hospital (I know a little about these places)
2, ask to speak to HR
3, inform HR that you are looking for a few hours each week voluntary, maybe on a ward serving tea, or helping the nurses, maybe talking to patients.
4,HR will give you a form to fill in
5, complete and TAKE back personally
F, 1 week later you will receive a phone call for an infomal chat
7, you will go through a personal check
8, 4 weeks later you will get some voluntary work.
9, if you show careness and quality the ward manager will notice
10, you ask ward manager for bank work
    11, you get bank work
12, a part time job comes up
    13, you apply
    14, you get
    15. Merry Christmas

Did your daughter do this to get her, what was it.....£2.60 an hour??

how many yrs ive been hearin this statement, i think alot of ppl are totally rude to think that those at home are doin nothin, an tbh whats it got to do with anyone anyway, as long as ur own life is goin well then why judge anyone else? theres always someone better off or worse off than all of us, so just because we work, then why get at those who dont?? the government sit on their backsides all day debatin and come up with sweet f.a. go judge them
  • .... My average day goes something along the lines if this:

Get up around lunchtime, toilet, wash/shower/brush and floss teeth.

Have a cup of tea and possibly some breakfast. Check my emails, Facebook, Twitter, Text messages ect and do a quick job search. Browse the internet on my phone until seven o clock and then have some tea and watch television.

Go to bed at about midnight, Fall asleep at 2/3 in the morning and then get up at lunchtime the following day and do the same thing all over again.

It is very depressing, I live by myself in one room about 8 feet by 12 with no kitchen and a shared bathroom, and I just don't have the money to go anywhere other than on the days of my Job Centre/Work Programme appointments.

It feels as though life is just passing me by and I haven't accomplished anything. But you're stuck between a rock and a hard place, What are you supposed to do?

"Bank work" has nothing to do with working in a bank. It is working as part of a "bank" of floating staff within the hospital. (but you misunderstanding did make me chuckle so thanks :) )

I work part-time from home (am looking for a full-time job or more hours in my current job presently)
Money is tight but I get out-maybe a bit of mystery shopping, perhaps a walk, visit friends , shop, cook from scratch, listen to news radio, read and still find time to apply for jobs and work five hours a day.

I rest my case my lord. computers are taking over banking, I suggest if you really want a job follow the above.

Regarding my daughter she took an apprenticeship in healthcare, not NHS. This is done purely because she cant go to college 20 miles away and pay over 300 quid for course and 300 quid for travel costs, plus even if she did this she would get no benefits, so working for £2-60 per hour gets her out of bed in a morning, me too as I have to drive her to work then go back home to go back to bed, unless im on early start.

I would rather my daughter get 2 quid an hour and get a NVQ in 12 months which will get her a better job maybe with the NHS or where ever she wants to go. 19 year old females want stimulation or need stimulation and id rather her have work stimulation than the other which leads to further problems and social issues.

At 19 years old I had a REAL job and it was a lot more than £2.60 a hour! :)
