  • Cheers for all your help, with a bit of luck I will now tomorrow get about doing this...For now I have taped up all wires separately and left that lighting circuit switched off via the consumer unit...

    If I have any problems, I will PM either of you directly..
  • Just to let you all know the problem was solved by following the steps outlined above by the experts....
    Found the cable from the consumer unit so labelled that, then done a continuity test to find which cable was connected to the switch for my switched live, then labelled that up and put everything back together and lights now working perfectly and switching on/off as per normal :-)
