I am looking into buying Apple iPad 2 16GB Wi-Fi Tablet - White but not sure which one.
If i buy without 3G does this mean that i can have internet access only in limited places. Also if i want an interent access now and then, can i have this as pay you go. Like my pay as you go phone?
Sorry i am novice.

If you don't get one with 3G, you will only be able to access the internet over a WiFi connection.
With a 3G iPad, you can insert a sim card from any network that will allow you to access the net over 3G - whether you do this on a PAYG or contract plan is down to which package you sign up to.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. As far as I know, my mum has the 3G version and she bought a micro SIM on PAYG to use the 3G.
She bought hers directly from Apple but bought the Micro SIM from Currys, she did need her IMEI number though (for the iPad2)
I am a novice too but hope that helped0 -
Thanks
Another question, if you get one with 3G, can you access the internet over a WiFi connection?0 -

Yes. I'm on my wifi connection most of the time but have a pre-paid sim card from 3 for when I'm not able to connect that way.
I don't use 3G very often but it's really handy to have - eg I changed my modem/router this week and could still access the Internet to find out how to do part of the process when I got stuck.0 -
So if you have one with 3G you have an option to use wifi connection as well as pay as you go.
With pay as you go would there be a monthly commitment or can you just top up when you need it?0 -
I think the pay as you go works in the way that you buy a certain amount of download allowance, once it's used up, you buy some more;)
I didn't bother with a 3G iPad, I just bought the wifi version as at first I thought it would just stay at home where I had wifi. Since getting it, I take it everywhere but still don't need the 3G as I connect it to wifi at work, friends, parents etc etc:D0 -

If you connect it to wifi at work, friends, parents, do you need their password to use their wifi connection?0 -

Yes I do, but as I set up my parents wifi and the one at work there was no problem me having it, plus my friends are fine at me having theirs;) the best thing is my iPad automatically connects to all known wifi connections when in range:D0 -
Remember if you have an iPhone or similar smartphone, it is very easy to tether your iPad to your phone and use its 3G connection for occasions where you cannot access wifi, thus eliminating the need for a 3G iPad plus new sim etc0
