Holiday clothes

As the holiday is not until September, if you hang fire the summer sales will be on before you go away. You will be able to get stuff at a fraction of the price.
I am lucky enough to get at least 3 beach holidays a year and I am always on the look out for bargains. I especially like swimwear that has been reduced. I would much rather have quality stuff in the sale than buy cheap from somewhere like Primark.0 -
That's the way i have gone generally with my everyday clothes pattycake (love the username!). When I was a student I used to shop in Primark all the time, but it was probably a false economy as everything used to go baggy and shapeless really quickly. I was only going to go back there as I find I only wear holiday clothes there. And never seem to wear them when I get back lolI'm never offended by debate & opinions. As a wise man called Voltaire once said, "I disagree with what you say, but will defend until death your right to say it."
Mortgage is my only debt - Original mortgage - January 2008 = £88,400, March 2014 = £47,000 Chipping away slowly! Now saving to move.0 -
I would have a look through the clothes you have from the last few years and see what still fits you, or what you will definitely wear.
Then list what you NEED to take with you, and see, from that list, what you dont have!
Keep hold of that list and wait for the late summer sales, just before you go on your holidays and you will be able to get some great bargains!
Just being curious, where are you off to?0 -
I never understand 'holiday' clothes.
I wear my normal summer clothes on summer holidays. I'm off to Spain in August and I will buy new clothes as normal and just wear them on holiday. The only new things I buy for a holiday are swimming costumes or bikinis.0 -

Good idea! I'm going a Med Cruise with Thomson. It's honeymoon 18 months after we got married! Lol.I'm never offended by debate & opinions. As a wise man called Voltaire once said, "I disagree with what you say, but will defend until death your right to say it."

Well on holiday I wear shorts everyday, I may wear them on the odd hot weekend here but not suitable for work, so they are holiday clothes as that is when I wear them.0 -

If it's your honeymoon I would def splash out on one nice outfit.
Other than that, if you have to be planning to save for new clothes then DEFINITELY use your old ones! If you're anything like me you'll have forgotten what you bought and getting your summer clothes out will surprise you.
Have a lovely honeymoon0 -

I see what you mean. So its more about having the quantity of shorts to wear I suppose. You'd only need one or two pairs for weekends but more for a fortnights holidays.
I was thinking how my mother shops. She once bought a pair of gold sandals and said those will be great for my holiday. I agreed and said they'd look nice with a few things she already owned and suggested places she could wear them, to which she said 'oh no, they're only for holiday, I couldn't wear them in England'
I didn't understand (and still dont).0 -

I also have what I call 'holiday clothes.' Infact a ton of them as Im addicted to buying them lol:rotfl:
Its mainly things like short beach dresses to wear over bikinis, sun dresses to wear in the evening, and very short shorts, that I would only wear in say the garden at home, and not anywhere else for example! Also board shorts for wearing when snorkelling, which would look a bit weird wearing back at home unless I went to the beach here and wanted to wear them over a bikini or something, but thats very occasionally.
I dont have holiday shoes though!0
