    Auto correct, damn you.

Ferni is right the info is incorrect but it can give a back ground. You still haven't answered why you defaulted and if you want to plead your case your are going to need a very valid reason as everyone has pointed out.

When I asked for mine I had everything written out with dates and times and was ready to send a death certificate having been oversea for nearly every weekend for a 2 month period it spiralled out of control.

I was extremely fortunate someone listened and it was a default that had been passed and was reconsider in one week of passing over.

My own fault entirely and I admitted this, during this I been dealing with my father in hospital dying plus dementia as well.

Somewhere else someone else has said defaults are no longer relevant after 2 years. Wish this was true.

Have a look at your current circumstances. Are you living within your means is everything paid, are you having no lates etc, in the mean time keep the searches down and stay with in the means of your limits.

I have around 36 lates on my file and it's going to be 6 years from January to get them all, however I'm paying more then the minimum and working hard not to apply for any credit and live within my means. Long term close my accounts and prove how good I am.

A default removal is Not going to fix everything overnight.

Can I ask had the default been paid and how much was it for?
  • Hi, the reason i defaulted is because i had been mis-informed by a t-mobile CS rep and the monthly DD was not take out.

I had the latest phone with t-mobile back in 2009 and i was paying by DD every month not a problem, but then i lost the phone and not having insurance i knew that that was it. I called t-mobile and i explained but they said they're sorry and didnt mention anything about me still having to pay for the remaining of the contract so i thought ok the contracts cancelled ( Im such an ediot for thinking that!!!! ) + the direct debit wasn't taken out??? and when i checked my experian report in late 2010 i found out i got a default!

i know its not a very valid reason, but i am most likely going to base it on the future if you know what i mean, i.e. obtaining a mortgage for kids sake etc - its worth a shot

Also no its not paid off, but recently ive had enough of this and ive started paying it back in 5 instalments of £50.8 a month as the original default was for £254 and ive got £100 left to pay.
  • I understand why you would want the defult removed, but what would make you think that the entity that issued the default would be interested in how it affects your future? You need a substantive reason why you defaulted at the time; it being inconvenient now is unlikely to cut it.

If lenders are to be responsible they need to know information about the people they are lending to?
  • I would suggest that one default will not make it impossible to get a mortgage. Get it settled and then get yourself a good mortgage adviser who will look at the whole of the market and find something to suit your situation.
  • Thanks a lot for your help everyone! Ill give it my best shot and plead to capquest to remove the default but if it doesn't work out ill try get a better mortgage advisor as suggested.

    Cheers

Hi I'm pretty new here but as I understand it, if you are saying that you didnt receive the default notice then this may be a better route to pursue in attempting to get it removed.

It looks a long process but it starts with you making a request under the Conumer credit Act. Someone on here will be able to assist you with the technical detail.

    I hope this helps.
  • Bit of a Preamble. first
Phoned AA Insurance on 11th Feb to amend DD payment Date( account up to date at this point), advised by them to cancel DD and set-up new one on chosen date 25th Feb.
Received Default Notice on 20th Feb with Charges- Phoned AA advised by them account was up to date still. Told them to remove said Notice Immediately and reply was that the default notice was just an 'internal thing' and Charges were not being applied. .
    Q. is this a 'real' default notice or not? it certainly looks legal, it quotes section 87(1) cca 1974 with all relevant account Info.
    Q. if it is real I want it removed:- do I have reasonable grounds?
  • Please remember difference between a defulted account and a default notice "missed payment". This means you have missed your payment and have defaulted, but it does not mean you have been given a default on your credit report?
  • ok so a default notice is sent out if t&c are breached i.e. cancelling DD( my case ) or a missed payment. But This won't go on my credit file unless the 'further actions' given on the Notice are taken by the Company?
I'm just guessing that these notices are triggered automatically.
Still wary of telefon arrangements so i think i'll call them again this week to check everything is set-up OK

Hi - I have a default on my file for £60 which my credit file states went into effect in 1998. I entered into a debt repayment plan some years ago through Moneyway and have since paid off all my debts including the debt that led me to default back in 1998. This was all settled and paid off through money way in 2011 and until i checked my credit file was under the illusion that i was now completely debt free !! I believe the default will stay on my file for the next 6 years. As this is for only £60 is there anyway that i can have this removed ?? I think the debt was passed over to Lowell Portfolio from littlewoods and i defaulted with lowell possibly due to when i changed from one debt management company to another. It is affecting me getting car finance and even a bank account. I am now 32 years old and work full time in a profession and feel that because of a £60 default i am going nowhere. The default is also showing on my file as being registered with Lowell Porfolio and i am worried that as i entered into a debt repayment plan that i acknowledged the debt and now have no way of having the default removed. Help !!!
