As far as i can remember, you can only default Once, so if the original default was in 1998, then this should no longer appear on your record, however the arrangement to pay has stretched your file to 2011 as this was when the account efffectively cleared, so perhaps this has kept it 'live'

I think this needs clarification, as there may be many people in this situation thinking they are out of bother.

Maybe someone with more experience here will know.

FYI: I was in a similar situation but managed to just catch it in time without having to set up a lengthy arrangement.
So i'm just waiting for mine to drop off the radar.

    Good Luck

Has the original 1998 default been updated at all between then and now?

Thanks for your replies. My credit file is saying that the account was started in 1998 and i defaulted in november 2008 and the status history was last updated in 29/01/2012. It is also showing that the current balance is statisfied. I have no recollection of defaulting however i was paying this debt off through a money way debt management plan and suspect that i defaulted when i changed to them from another debt management company. Is there anyway i can prove that i have paid the debt management company (ie asking bank for old statements) and getting Moneyway to confirm that they did not pay Lowell on time ???? Am really at my wits end with this and am unsure of whether to contest the default and who to infact contact about it.
  • Defaulted in 2008, means it'll be there till 2014.

Can't really remove it as its a true reflection of past history.

Is it best to let this drop of the radar then ? 2014 is a long way off and I feel that Lowell should remove the default
