Talk Talk essentials

I am with Virgin (cable broadband+ phone line rental), however I just can't sustain the bills anymore so I am looking at Talk Talk Essentials. When I click on the link and go to the TT website, I fill in the details and I get a reply about BT needing to install a new phone line for £ 25.
Is this ok? Kind of defeats the voucher thing and I think I might do better and sign up with Primus, no voucher but about same price and better customer support.
Any opinions? Thanks

If you are moving from Cable to ADSL broadband then you will need a BT landline installed. £25 if true is cheap.
Talk Talk does not have a good rep, what other LLU choices do you have at your exchange?
Check on Samknows. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
The standard BT price is £130, so £25 is a steal if true. But what's the minimum term?
Beter customer support on Primus? Are you sure? At least TT answer the phone (even if they don't make much sense thereafter). No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

They don't, they raise an order on BT Openreach to do the work.
Have you done an exchange search on Samknows to see who else is available, O2 or Sky for example.
In order to switch your home phone service to Primus, you will need an active BT phone line. There are several options for getting a line installed:- BT - Contact BT directly on 0800 028 4474 to get your phone line reconnected or installed. There may be a charge for this, of up to £130though it is sometimes possible to get reconnected for free.
- Primus - Primus also offers line reconnection and installation. Contact Primus directly on 0800 036 0170 (www.primusconnect.co.uk) to get your phone line reconnected or installed. There may be a charge for this, of up to £59, though it is sometimes possible to get reconnected for free.

If you swithch to talktalk and it does not go smoothly from day one be prepared to spend hours waiting in a queue for your call to ba answered, to have to explain your problem repeatedly to everyone who does answer and told to go to a library to use a computer there to check what it says on their website.
You have been warned!!I need to make a new list for 2014
think of something to put on it!:rotfl:
Try harder for 2014 as I never managed it in 2012 or 20130 -

thanks, checked my postcode n15 4pj on samknows and the cheapest offer was Talk Talk essential. Strangely the Primus offer doesn't show up at all. The reconnection from them is free from the MSE link. Thanks0 -

My exact thoughts. One thing about cable broadband (which I have) is that fortunately I have never had a problem, except once in 3 years, and it lasted only a day. But it's too expensive. I remember when I had ADSL , it was hell, but I need to switch to that again. I think I'll let Talk Talk go and make the switch with Primus, life is too short to risk wasting valuable time and all for a £ 50 voucher.
Hopefully with Primus it will be ok. Thanks0 -
Primus does not show up because its a reseller of BT products. That gum you like is coming back in style.0
