     NO! tinned rice pudding is no where near as nice as your own,

It's nicer than mine :D. I'm rubbish at rice pudding, so have some tins of Ambrosia in for emergencies if OH wants some. My mum used to use sterilised milk for rice pudding (she's brilliant at making it!) but I don't know how that differs from the normal pasteurised.

When I do make rice pudding I make it in a pan because if I do it in the oven it ends up as milk with clumps of rice in.

When you posted, not including the OP (which I assume that you read  ) there were 18 other posts, only 17 if you don't include the post you'd already made in the thread. Not much to read, really.

Thankyou I got it, would you like one back to confirm or do you think I'm making it up?

glad you liked it churchmouse, i was never organised enough to make something else to go in the oven and i grudged putting it on just for a pudding

might have been too thick with the coconut milk kyle try with full cream next time, will have to look at recipe for the quantity of rice to use

" Too much effort " ?? Blimmin' heck, how much effort does it take to throw together a rice pudding and pretty much leave it to do its own thing in the oven for a couple of hours ?? especially as you could cook an equally quickly thrown together casserole and a few jacket spuds at the same time ? which you could either freeze the excess and/or be sorted for dinner/lunches for a couple of days ?

Ok... you hear that odd, pained thumping noise... that is the sound of me banging my head against my desk. Repeatedly.

It was the whole four hour thing.

Half an hour is plenty long enough for me to get bored :p

I may give it a go at the weekend though, we'll see! Seemed like an expensive way to use up a can of 50p milk!
  • Hi all,

Does anyone have a tried and tested recipe for rice pudding? I've used one out of a children's cookbook (!) and it always end up too dry, despite my attempts to change the cooking time/quantities.

    Many thanks :D
